I know I shouldn't compare babies but my oldest dd was crawling very young. The girls have no idea how to crawl. They only play now when they sit up. They will not play anymore on their stomachs. Hope can lean over & get on her hands and knees, but Grace could care less. She is alot more laid back than her sissy. When will they crawl? When do they learn to sit up without us sitting them up? When will they get teeth? When should I try to introduce finger foods? I know no one can answer these questions because all babies are different, but maybe some general ideas of when everyone else's kid's did this stuff.

    Hi Missy~

My boys just turned 8 months old yesterday. Nathan crawls like a crazy man and has been doing it just after turning 7 months old. Andrew, could careless about crawling. He scoots or rolls wherever he wants to go. Nathan sits up on his own and stands up on his own. Andrew will stay seated for a LONG time if I sit him up but he just just now making motions to try to sit up on his own and is now just acting like he may be crawling soon. Nathan got 2 teeth a few weeks ago and Andrew just has one.

Andrew however is my "talker" HE babbles all day long. Says Mama over and over (not at me mind you just in general). Nathan babbles but not as much.

Needless to say I have decided to stop worrying (as much as I can) because they each do things at different times and also have their own things that only they do. Andrew claps all the time and Nathan is just now starting to do it, Andrew has taken to finger food faster than Nathan but Nathan was ready to start solids at 6 months and it took Andrew a few weeks to get the hang of it.

I introduced finger foods about 2 weeks ago. Somethings they are great with, Cheerios, Whole Grain waffles, toast etc. but won't touch cut up fruits and veggies I give them for some reason. I just keep offering it and one day they'll get it.

Hope some of that was helpful ;)

    Take Care

Cody is just now starting to sit up some. The twins started sitting up & crawling around 7 months. They actualy did the opposite of each other then changed. 1 could sit while the other scooted.

:hug99: Don't stress yourself too much about all this, it will happen. :hug99:

    Crawling: both at 9.5 months
Teeth: 6 months for ds/ 7 months for dd
Sitting up: 5 months for both
Finger foods: 13 months {they were not intrested before this time, they would gag or just spit it out} I started giving them finger foods at around 10 months, so it took my twinks a bit to get used to them.

Mine are taking their time with these things, too. My older DD sat right at 6 months, crawled two days before she hit 7 months (she'd been army crawling for months by then), and pulled to standing soon thereafter.

My little ones aren't sitting unassisted yet -- they do tripod for a little while, but then fall over -- never mind getting into a sitting position. DS rolls everywhere, and is trying to crawl, but hasn't done it yet. DD chooses not to roll over -- I know she can as I've seen it once, but she won't! I put her on her belly, and she reaches for things, but only moves a few inches.

DD has her two bottom teeth; DS doesn't have any yet.

Hope this helps! I know it's hard not to worry, as I have to force myself not to fret about it every day.

Oh, and finger foods -- we're still on purees only. Neither will self feed yet. And, I gave a few small bits of banana to DD the other day, and she gagged and threw up everything that she had just eaten. So, guess we're waiting on that for awhile...

    HTH...

    DD: Sitting 6 months
    Pulling to sitting 6 months
Crawling and pulling to standing 7 months
    Finger foods 7 months
    Teeth 7 months

    DS: Sitting 6 months
Pulling to sitting (just yesterday) 7months 3 weeks
Pulling to standing (just yesterday ) 7 months 3 weeks
    Crawling, still working on it
    Finger Foods, won't touch them
Teeth 5 months and already has 6!

They will be 8 months on the 29th and as you can see, they are in very different developmental stages!

Here's how our three kids did it:

Ainsley - introduced finger foods at 8 months, crawled at 9.5 months, learned to sit herself up after learning to crawl, first tooth at 7.5 months
Sierra - introduced finger foods at 8 months, crawled at 10.5 months, learned to sit herself up before learning to crawl, first tooth at 7.5 months
Dax - introduced finger foods at 6.5 months, crawled at 8.5 months, learned to sit himself up after learning to crawl, first tooth at 6 months

None of them would play on their stomachs after 5 months or so, they only liked to sit. I remember reading a few months ago about how sitting can lead to crawling. Once the baby is sitting, they start to lean over onto their hands and that's how they learn to get on their hands and knees and move forward.
