DS woke up with a fever yesterday that went up and down all day. Lowest temp was 97.4 and highest was 100.7. Gave the tylenol every 4 hours, he is eathing great, NO sniffles, coughs, sneezing, vomiting was very cranky/whiny yesterday. Slept most of the night. No teeth yet so just wondering what else it could be?

Mine have also had low fevers with no real symptoms. Probably just a virus that he is fighting off. My Ped says that an official temp is anything over 100.6 rectally but I am not sure if that is universal or not. I hope he feels better soon. :hug99:

It's pretty common for babies and toddlers to get fevers and no other symptoms. It might last a day or so, then disappear. Most of the time, the kid feels just fine. The fever is just a symptom of the body doing it's job in fighting off some virus. The only real reason to treat fevers with Tylenol or Motrin, etc is to help uncomfortable babies feel better. I wouldn't worry about it. Technically a fever is defined as a temp of 100.8 or more. Hope he feels better soon!

I would just keep an eye on him, and watch out for other symptoms.

Logan had the same thing a few weeks ago. It was because he was teething. He had it for about a day in a half then when the tooth cut through the fever was gone. Any chance he could be getting teeth?

That is what happened with Maia last week then next day she was SUPER CRANK so I took her in and she has an ear infection. No other symptoms! If his demeanor changes I would bring him in. (and technically I brought Sofie in for a cough and had them look at Maia, good thing too because I just thought she was teething :pardon: )

I hope he is not sick!!!! Good luck!

He isn't pulling at his ear or anything so I didn't think ear infection but it could be. I will see how he does today and then bring him tomorrow to our pedi. If you go after hours they always want to admit them. My pedi said not to call unless it is 101 of a fever rectally and 100.8 auxillary (armpit).

Yesterday he was not crying, just whining. Today he is still running a fever at 99 and mood wise seems better. He is still eating really well and is taking his normal naps.

He could be teething, Indira is about to break her tooth through and if I didn't see it myself I would have never guessed because she is not showing any signs of teething other than chewing and drooling.

Thanks everyone and if anyone else has a suggestion thanks in advance.
