I hate fevers. Of course, my DH goes away on a business trip, and I wake up to one of the boys crying with a 103 fever! I went ahead and got a babysitter, and ran him to a doctor here in town. Not their pedi because she was out of the office today. They did a crappy throat swab (more like roof of the mouth swab), which was negative for strep and sent me on my way. Well, the fever hasn't gone down, even alternating tylenol and motrin every 3-4 hours, he's running 102+. I got them to sleep... Hoping that he'll wake up tomorrow feeling better! Of course, I don't think I'll sleep very well worrying and checking on him...

    Thanks for letting me vent.

I'm sorry your LO has such a high fever and isn't feeling good :( I'd have all kinds of anxiety too if that happened while my DH was out of town. A couple of months ago Colin developed a fever of 101.x and woke up in the middle of the night crying, and it lasted for about 2 days then went away with few other symptoms. We never did know what caused it but were just glad it wasn't anything major. I hope the same holds true for your little man and that he sleeps through the night and wakes up feeling great!

You can also try a luke warm bath, it's not ideal in the middle of the night, but if it's still up in the morning you can try that a couple of times tomorrow. You don't want it too cold so they get chilled, or too hot so it heats them up. Also, temps will peak in the last afternoon/early evening, so it's pretty normal if they are running a bit of a temp during the day, it's going to get higher in the evening. Lots of cold juice/water/milk, cold pudding, jello, popsicles, ice cream...cold foods if he'll eat :)

 Sometimes random fevers just pop up, my ds ran one the other day, got up to 103, stayed around 101-102 for a couple of days, and then it went away. Nothing else wrong. Hopefully your little one is feeling better in the morning!

Sorry about that fever! My girls were both so sick all last winter. One twin runs a high fever every single time she gets sick.... up to a little over 104. With meds, it hangs around 102 or so. Each doctor I've asked say that some kids do just run a higher fever than others. Both girls can have the same illness to the same degree and one has 100 fever and the other 103. Hope the kiddo is better! :)

I feel your pain. A couple of days ago, one of my DD woke up to 104. Went to the dr. they did a throat swab and no strep and said it could be baby measels. 2 days later, the rash appeared. She is much better now, i hope your little guy is feeling better soon.

Sorry your LO is sick. The same thing happened to me a few months ago. DH went away for a week and I ended up with sick kids who were up half the night. It isn't fun. I hope the fever goes away soon.
