Jacob has had a fever from 102 to 103.5+ for the last 4 days, getting higher each day. The weird thing is, there is NOTHING else wrong with him that we can figure out. Perfect ears, respiratory tract, chest, abdomen... everything! The only thing was a slightly enlarged throat lymph node. I took him to the doc today and he was so pathetic. He just laid there on my chest for hours. They ran a catheter to check his urinary tract (poor guy!). Then, when that was fine, they sent us for bloodwork. He didn't even flinch throughout the whole process of drawing 3 big vials of blood! I am waiting for a call sometime tonight with info about the bloodwork. I'm just worried about my little guy.

I am starting to think about the worst case scenario possibilities, which is so NOT like me... and I'm really nervous. Let's just hope that this is nothing more than a strange fever.

Does anyone have any experience (good or bad) with something like this?!

    Thanks for listening! :)

It's so hard for me to sit here and say don't go there, because I would myself, but try not to. I don't have experience or words of wisdom, just wanted to show support. Please keep us posted, I hope it turns out to be just another pesky virus.

Your poor little man! I feel for you -- Kevan also had blood drawn and a catheter yesterday for his genetic testing -- but it took three of us to hold him down, LOL. Jacob must feel really yucky to not protest all that.

But, there must be a million childhood viruses that could cause random fever, right? Hugs to you -- I know how hard it is not to worry. But, I'm betting that it's just some bug. Sending you guys healthy vibes, and virtual hugs!

Yeah, I can't say I wouldn't be thinking the same things, because I AM one of those overly paranoid types.... BUT- I think you should be relatively safe as long as you can keep the temp below 104 with meds, and it doesn't last longer than 7-10 days when most viruses have run their courses. Past that, then I personally would really worry. (doesn't mean you SHOULD... but I would!) I do remember one of the boys having a high fever for at least 4 days... and they did all that nasty b/w and stuff, nothing came of it. I vaguely recall feeling like it took a good two weeks for them to return to "normal." Hope he gets better soon! Keep us updated!

Maybe a bacterial infection?? My son did the same thing and after they drew blood they found it. Hopefully that is all it is which is taken care of with some antibiotics. Please keep us updated!!

 Thanks everyone... we got the blood test results and it appears as though it is viral. No elevated white count or anything. That makes me feel better! :) Hopefully my little guy will be feeling better soon!
