We had our 1st Birthday Party Saturday, which went fairly well. Lauren woke up around midnight and when I went in there she was burning up. I took her temp, 102.6, this was our 1st fever as well. Fast forward to today, she is still running a fever 99-101, I am giving her motrin & tylenol. She has no other symptoms other than clingy and sleepy. Oh, I forgot, she has been really, really constipated lately. What do you think it could be?

    TIA!

Eli had that once and it ended up being Rubella. His fever lasted 2-3 days and that was the only symptom he had. About 24 hrs after the fever broke he got the full body rash(which didn't bother him either) and it lasted 1-2 days. His fever got up pretty high too and he was just really clingy and sleepy. Just wanted to be held. I kept alternating the Tylenol and Motrin every 3hrs.

Mine have had 3 sets of fevers with no other symptoms and they've been ear infections each time without any other symptoms (except for night waking which they never do). I'd take her in the make sure. Good luck!

Poor baby :( I would guess either an ear infection or a virus of some sort. Mine had the adenovirus last summer and it was just a high fever and some blisters in their mouths/throats. If the fever doesn't go down with the motrin and tylenol, I would take her to the pedi. Better to be safe than sorry! I hope she feels better soon!

We just went through this. They had a fever for 3 days, and then it turned into snotty noses and coughs! :hug99: I hope yours don't get the bad part of it!!

I have to say ear infections, too...mine did the same thing. High fever, no other symptoms. I would never have known they had ear infections if not for the fever. I couldn't get the fever to break for the days following us finding out it was ear infections, and the ER nurse told me to, instead of rotating motrin and tylenol, to mix it...half dose of each mixed...that worked?!?!

My little Paul has this right now! We went to Dr. today and she called it a virus- he has had it since Saturday and fever gets to about 103. No ear infection for him- but I sure thought it was! A few months ago Jack had high fever and ended up as an ear infection...
She said keep him comfortable and should be better by Wed. if not call and come back in...
good luck with your little one...

Well, we went to the pedi yesterday afternoon, b/c I just couldn't get her fever down past 101 w/ anything. No ear infection ( :icon_eek: b/c we have our share of those). She said it was probably just a virus, watch her temp, rotate the tylenol/motrin. We go back on Friday for their 12 month appt and shots, so she said she should definately be better by then. If not we will do "further testing" what ever that means. Anyway, I guess it is just something that is going around now.

Sounds exactly like what both of mine went through when they got Roseola. High fever for about 4 days. We actually took Emily to the ER twice because her temp was 105 :shok: On about the 5th day the fever broke, and the next morning she broke out in a rash. Sam had the same thing happen about 3 weeks later, but his temp only got up to about 103. Hope your little ones are feeling better soon!!!!
