so just over 10 days ago C & K got their year shots. doc said that running a fever 10 days out was normal... so, Sunday was day 10 and both started not eating and that night got low grade fevers... they have also been drooling like crazy - back teeth are coming in. today i can see K's two back bottom teeth coming thru. they are still running 100.6 or so off and on. now have runny noses too... can all of this be residual from the shots and teething? we have been thru colds before but never a fever... thoughts?

In my experience the shots fever only lasted a day or two, so in my opinion it sounds like the fever is coming from the teething. I always know when mine are cutting a tooth because they are feverish. I always gave mine motrin before bed and naps and that seemed to really help. Also if the tooth has already come through then you can use orajel but I wouldn't use that just on gums.
I'm sorry to hear about the fevers, I hope those teeth pop through quick! Also diaper rash is another sign of teething.

I agree with Brigette. When my kids have been feverish after a shot, it's only been for a day or two. My two do get fevers for teething (along with runny noses, runny stools, and diaper rash). I also give Motrin before bed as well and teething tablets to take the pain edge off if the kids seem really fussy. I hope they feel better soon and those teeth come through

I think that does sound like a "teething fever". When my guys have gotten fevers from shots, they usually spike higher than that. The rule of thumb that my ped goes by is not to medicate for fevers under 102. However, if they're teething and uncomfortable, I would give them a dose of Motrin. Those molars are the WORST!!

Hope your LOs are feeling better soon!

Sounds like a teething fever to me. DS had one for 2 days a couple of weeks ago. He's getting his molars.

thank all, we are better today though still have a very slight drippy nose. K has a top molar broken through and both bottom ones on the verge of it so i now know why she is so sensitive at the moment. C isn't quite as far along with his yet...
