I really want to rent a fetal doppler and need some advice before I decide. Did you rent a doppler? Where did you rent it from/which model? What was your opinion of the company/model? Were you able to distinguish the 2 heartbeats? Do you think it comforted you or caused more stress? How far along were you when you could hear it? When did you stop renting/listening (I was thinking when they move around a lot and don't need the HB to make sure they are OK every day).

    Thanks a million,
    Tasha

Tasha, I did rent a doppler but it was four years ago and I don't remember which model or where from. :sorry: I was able to distinguish the babies from their heartbeats the babies heartbeats because they were pretty much always different. It didn't take me long to find them and it set my worried mind at ease. I was around 13 weeks when I got it and was able to hear them. I stopped listening around 25 weeks? I don't remember exactly but I know at the time I was able to feel them alot more and that was comforting to me. I hope I helped you a bit.

Thanks! I know I had lots of views, so even if you have a little bit of advice, I'll take it ;) I go see the doctor on the 15th so I will see what she thinks about it all too.

I don't have any advice to offer on the doppler, other than with my singleton pregnant several years ago. But I know that my doc always checks with the doppler but she doesn't feel comfortable with it so we always wind up on u/s for a quick second just to check the heartbeats on both babies. She said that sometimes you may think you are hearing two diff heart beats but could be picking up the same baby, just in a different area.

Sorry I don't have any other advice or insight to offer. :) Let us know what your doc says about it all, I'm curious!

My mom bought me a doppler when we were pg with our son and I have used it through all 3 pregnancies. I don't remember what kind it is, but I think she bought it at baby beats? Just a guess - it's been almost 6 years since she got it! :) It's great though and really sets my mind at ease. Both sets of twins seemed to have one on each side of the belly, so it was pretty easy to distinguish (for me- my Dr. always does an u/s to check for hbs too just to make sure all is well). Both sets have had the exact same heartrate (within 2-3 bpm) but since they are on different sides of the belly they are easy to find. I could usually find them starting at about 8-9 weeks, but it was really hit or miss. After week 12 I could hear both consistently.

    Hi Tasha,

I recently rented our doppler from Tummy Tickles. It is a Canadian, company, but if you check out their website, we just rented their basic model. We got it at around 14 weeks, and was able to hear the heartbeats right away. It was kind of hard at first to distinguish the two, since their HB are almost exactly the same, but as they grew, it got a lot easier. We just finished our rental this week, at 24 weeks.

My husband and I were very glad to rent it. It did offer some peace of mind, and was great to be able to hear the HB's together, since my husband hasn't been able to come to many of my appointments. My OB still uses the doppler at every appt.

    Hope that helps!

    Hi,

We currently have the Angel Sounds heart rate monitor. We got it for $30 on ebay or amazon, I don't remember which. There are a lot of good reviews for this product on amazon. It is cheap but has worked fine and you can use it with just water. I got it at about 15 weeks and am now 21. I have never had trouble finding the babies. It is very reassuring. I would probably get worried though if I couldn't find them and that might cause unnecessary stress.

    Good luck.

    Lesley
