So, DH and I decided we would go grocery shopping today...together! This means we would need to take the girls with us. We have never taken them out with both of us before. Usually one of us keeps them at home while the other runs errands. So, we decide to brave it and go just after the girls wake from their afternoon nap and have a bottle. They were so good and only fussed a little and then rode happily in the stroller until falling asleep. We got two weeks worth of groceries and both girls were napping in the car on the way home. We had such a sense of accomplishment.

Well, I knew they would need bottles and diaper changes as soon as we got home so DH brought both girls in while I made bottles, then I tended to them while he brought in groceries. I got bottles made and went to get the girls out of their carriers only to discover...WE HAD NOT BUCKLED THEM BACK IN!  They had both gotten out of their carriers at the store for short periods of time for us to soothe them when they got fussy and we didn't strap them back in when we put them back in the stroller. Here we were patting ourselves on the back and now we just feel horrible! :slap:

Great job on the big accomplishment of 2 weeks of groceries! That has to feel good! And with 2 good babies also! Yay!

I know the feeling. I think many of us have forgotten to buckle them in at one time. It is a horrible feeling! For me, it was enough to make sure I double checked from that point on.

yep I can also say Ive BTDT! We forgot to buckle our kids in 1x too but I guarantee you'll never forget to do it again!
We all make mistakes. Focus on the positives (you are all home safe and sound) and you got groceries! Yay!!!

Good job on the successful grocery trip! Maybe you'll have more family ventures now that you know it can happen, and it can happen smoothly ;)

I think every mom [or parent] experiences that 'OMG.. I forgot to strap them in!!' moment at some point or another. At least you've learned and nothing bad came from it.

Yep, I have done that before. We took them to Disney in the Graco Duoglider when they were about 3 months old. Spent the whole day there. Got back to the car and took their carseats and loaded them into the van. Got home and  Not buckled in. You are STILL a Super MoM.

oh my, well congrats on the grocery shopping! its the little things, isn't it? so sorry for the buckles... that is my nightmare, we take the babies to restaurants in their carriers sometimes and most of the time they don't even get the buckles loosened, which I feel bad that they are in them so tight... but its also hard to remember if you tightened them up when you get them in and out like you did. you will remember from now on... that's how we all learn. I'm so glad you didn't have an accident on the way home!

    Danielle,
You are super mom for being able to get shopping done for two weeks :) We still haven't accomplished that yet...LOL!!!
I too will have to admit that I am gulity of the same thing with Lacy when she was about 4-5 months old. But, it kept me on my toes and I still double check the both of them!

You're doing Great & the girls are growing up sooo fast.

    Take Care,
    Nadana

Great job getting out and getting the shopping done! Next step, do it w/out DH! I know you can do it!

I forgot to buckle Jake in once when we left the library. They weren't even in carriers anymore and were about 5 months old!! I cried for hours after (I felt so guilty). Not once since have I forgotten! You won't forget again either.

I haven't forgotten the twins yet....But DD is wwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in the van and there have been a few times that I have forgotten to buckle her up. DH and I both did it once and realized when she was standing up between the boys talking to us. We were on the interstate already. She now remembers to tell me. So don't feel bad at all.

Great job on getting everyone to the grocery store! It makes you feel so good to get out and realize it's not as bad as you thought it would be.

Congrats on the shopping trip! It gets easier and easier the more you do it! I even get all 4 of my kids out by myself already! :D

And we've forgotten the buckles too! :( But more often it's forgetting to retighten the straps after loosening them when we're out and about, we do that quite often! <_<
