1st time pregnancy so apologies if this is a dumb question. 16 weeks and shoes died, got another pair out of my closet and found out they don't fit? There appears to be some foot swelling during the day (got measured last night between a 7.5 and 8, and I'm usually a size 7) but even first thing in the morning my shoes don't fit?

    What's up with this?

Will my feet return to their normal size after pregnancy? This is not by any means a big deal, just wondering/curious? Should I buy shoes for pregnancy?

Sorry about the swelling. It's definately not a big deal but it's not fun either. My feet swelled up alot. By the end I could only wear slippers that had an adjustable strap! And it went down immediately after their birth, but I did go up a half shoe size. I was always a 7.5 and now I'm an 8 and had to get rid of alot of my shoes. :cray: It's worth it but it was hard to throw them out!

I hope the swelling goes down for you! :)

I gained a full shoe size. Sorry, I know that's not what you wanted to hear. The secondary arch across the ball of the foot fell during pregnancy and I have callouses there still but the swelling is gone and the gross "thick skin" effect after the shrink went away so don't freak out when you see that.

They will return to normal. Mine swelled a lot and nothing fit not even flip flops. I had to get crocs. I was pregnant in the winter so I got the ones with the lining in them, they worked great. Even they were starting to get tight toward the end though. They even got bigger right after my cs because they gave me so much IV fluid. That only lasted a few days and within a few weeks of being home I started noticing a difference. Mine are back to normal now and none the worse for wear. I think I have even lost some weight so it is not a worry. It will end soon.

My shoe size went up about 1/2 size post pregnancy. Most of my shoes still fit, but they definitely are a little tighter.

I had a lot of swelling during my pregnancy. Post pregnancy I grew a size.

My feet are a half size larger post-pregnancy and are also now a wide width. Talk about a pain finding shoes! Hope yours return to their original size after your little ones arrive!

Mine stayed between a 1/2 size and a full size larger after pregnancy.

same here with the swelling and only being able to wear one pair of flipflops...i was extremely swollen all over though so it did take a week or two for a lot of the swelling to go down. And i also have issues with my feet getting bigger...went from 7 to 7.5. Drink lots of water and try to keep your feet up as much as possible.

Not only do you have swelling of the feet during pregnancy, you feet do tend to "flatten" during pregnancy so that makes your foot wider too.

I remained about 1/2 size larger after the boys, and no telling what will happen this time.

Mine feet went back to their exact same size.
But I wasn't happy about it.
All my life I've had a hard time buying shoes becasue of my narrow feet.
Most of my life I'd been looking forward to my feet getting wider with pregnancy.
When I found out I was having twins I thought--well at least me shoe problem is solved.
It alas it wasn't so. :umm:

WELL - my feet grew during my first pregnancy - havne't been able to tell a difference yet with this past pg because I wear sandals all the time and the size doesn't show as much as a closed toe.

During my PG with my son, I went from a size 11 to an 11.5 :( And I thought it was hard to find shoes BEFORE!!!!! This is why I stick to my sandals!

I am 36 wks now and my feet started to become permanently swelled for the past week and a half.

I've been hearing from a lot of people about gaining a 1/2 shoe size. A friend of mine in particular said her feet grew. Now her daughter is 2 1/2 years old and she says her feet went back to their normal shoe size. So interestingly odd ;)

I know a lot of women who have been pregnant and I swear to god my legs got the most swollen and they were ROCK hard and sore all the time. (I ended up finding out they were so swollen from preeclamspia) BUT. they did grow 1/2 a size!

I know my mom's feed grew 1/2 a size with each child she had, too.

thank god they only grew 1/2 with two babies instead of 1 full size!
I was a 10 1/2 and now I'm an 11. So yeah. Big feet, already!

OH AND ALSO- Do not be upset when the swelling doesn't go down IMMEDIATELY. I thought my feet would be back to normal the next day...
They were sore and still swollen for a week about. Just drink lots of water :)

My feet swelled alot during pregnancy, by the end I could only wear slip on birkenstocks. I was lucky though that a couple of months postpartum, my feet did go back to regular size.
