I have a question. I noticed on Anthony that when I put him on his legs to stand, both of his feet point outward! So I put Nicholas on his feet, and his feet point straight. Is that not normal for Anthony to have his feet outwards? He will be 8 months old next week. EI comes tomorrow anyways...but I wanted to know if anyone else experienced this..or if it's something he will outgrow...or need help with...

    Thanks!

It is called out-toeing usually caused by a rotation of the femur or tibia/fibula bone. They should correct on their own but I would definitely point it out to the Ped. Tyler's are gradually working their way back but when he first started walking he looked like a duck. It did not delay his cruising (10 mo actual) or walking at all (13 mo actual).

Let us know what EI and the pedi say. Good luck!

My friend's daughter had the out-toeing with one foot. She is almost 2.5 and it has just about corrected itself.

My son Conner has been diagnosed with severe out toeing, in that both his femur & tibia are effected. Even when he sits or lays on his back, his feet are constantly turned outward. Our Ped said he'd outgrow it & that it shouldn't effect his gross motor milestones, but I think it is/has. He's finally crawling (10 mos) but can only pull up to his knees. He has a hard time standing because he just teeters on his feet since there's no good 'base'. Like a pp mentioned, I've been warned that he'll walk like a duck, but he's no where NEAR that now :)! We never had any special tests or met with any specialist, but I know others who have. I have been assured he'd most likely outgrow it by 5 years old, so we'll see how he does!!!!

Oh & FYI, it's very common in multiples b/c of how they were so jammed in the womb!

GL with the EI appointment! One of my DD's had a slight turning of her foot and when we went for her hip ultrasound at a couple months old, the doctor said it was because of the way she was in the womb. It corrected itself over the first year and walks fine.

Thanks ladies! Well EI came today(she comes every two weeks to see the boys-what she does, I'm not too sure yet....). Anyways... I mentioned the feet positioning-and she mentioned of how I was on top of things :D , and she said she would talk to the physical therapist and see if she wanted to come out and see him. She comes back June 24, so I will know then. I will be calling the pedi this week for some food questions, and will ask the nurse about it then too.

Meg, I am glad she took a look at it for you and you will get some answers (and maybe some PT). :hug99:
