I am feeling much the same way. I'll be 28 weeks on Tuesday and have only gained 3lbs. Of course, I wasn't exactly thin to begin with! But the drs say the babies are growing great and are right on track for their age, so I'm ok with not gaining much.

    :hug99: to you!
Though it is hard to do, try not to focus on your weight gain (or lack of in some cases) ~ Your Dr. will let you know if they are concerned about excessive weight gain or loss at your appts.
Try to just enjoy those growing babies!!! :)

I am 30 weeks and have gained 30 pounds so far (the last time I was weighed was almost 2 weeks ago though so we'll see how much more I have gained this wednesday). I cringe everytime I step on the scale!! It is getting harder to find clothes that are fitting my big ol' belly too.

:hug99: I agree with Tamara, if you doctor was worried, he'd let you know. I gained 50 lbs during my pregnancy, and I know what you are feeling. I didn't enjoy most of my pregnancy because I felt so bad about how I looked. I regret it now and wish I concentrated more on loving it and enjoying it.

At my last appointment (2 weeks ago) I'd gained 12 pounds. I'm guessing I'll have gained at least 15-16 pounds by my next appointment at 21 weeks. So I'll probably be right there with you by the time I get to 29 weeks!!

You're fine. My Dr. said it is heallthy for the babies for a mom to gain 40-60 pounds in a twin pregnancy.

I, on the other hand, have gained way too much. I've gained 40 pounds, and will only be 24 weeks tomorrow, eep!

I have gained about 60lbs. so far  and between that and the horrible stretch marks I have I hate the mirror..I just try to focus on how hard I am going to try to look even better than I did before I got pregnant after the babies get here!

Lets see I'm about 22 weeks and have gained 27 pounds or so. I'm expecting to gain quite a bit more though! Everyone was so worried that I was too small...HA!

Everyone forgot that I gained about 65 lbs with just my son. Of course I'm a pretty thin girl to begin with (112 lbs). I'm really trying to enjoy my belly and the kicks and all, this very well could be my last pregnancy. My MIL found me a really pretty long flowing dress to wear that has boosted my confidence nicely. Now if only the acne on my shoulders would go away...hormones, bleh.

My husband and brother (who is Army in Iraq) have made me feel a TON better about my weight. They pointed out that being pregnant is like a 36 week training course for battle, not unlike basic training. And just like in basic training, you eat when and as much as you can, are tired and worn out all the time, and eventually gain about 100-130 pounds between your body changes and gear. And just like going to war, you get a few battle scars. But no one would look at a solider, with their 160-200 lbs bodies (that started out 120-140) and their 75-100lbs of gear, dirty, sweaty, maybe even bloody, and question the beauty and impressive nature of their gift. Same with a twin mom. We gain our 35-60lbs, we lug around our 75-100 lbs of gear (and do the math..... it will work out to quite a lot!), we have our battle scars and wear our dirt with pride. What we are doing is beautiful and impressive.

That doesn't mean that it looks any better in the mirror, but it feels amazing to think about and really helps balance those glances in the mirror! :) Especially with my face broken out from hormones and my hair going bananas! :)

    Hugs,
    Dominique

I've gained 29 lbs so far (I'm 21 wks 4 days)!!! I don't even know how. I haven't been eating like a complete cow. It's just been piling on this 2nd trimester. Hopefully I'll slow down a little bit - this is nuts!

What a wonderful way to look at it!!! And very true! I think we are much more critical of ourselves than anyone else. I feel like a walking cow but everyone at my work keeps saying how I'm all baby. I think they're humoring me sometimes ;) but it's nice to hear. Thanks for bringing in a different point of view!

My wife (24 wks) fusses about her weight gain as well… says she feels ‘huge’, unsexy, etc.
I tell her that she’s still the same beautiful woman. And while she might not fit into her regular clothes right now, there is something warm, and happy, and beautiful (and yes, maternal) about her right now, weight gain and all.

I'm almost 24 weeks and I've gained 11 lbs so far. Of course, I had a little extra baggage to begin with. I gained 47 lbs with my singleton 2 year ago and never really lost all of that!

As of my Doctors visit on Monday August 4th, I have gained only 9lbs. I will be 21 Weeks this Thursday. I started out with a little more padding but I eat healthy. I’m on my feet a lot and still work 6 days a week. My doctor doesn’t feel that women should have a set amount of weight they can or can’t gain, but to gain healthy amounts, and to have good twin growth. The only time she will ever bring up my weight is if she is concerned.

I can tell even though I have only gained a few pounds, its all in my belly. Looking in the mirror is a little shocking. My hubby is the best for lifting my sprits. The first to tell my how beautiful I look, and how sexy my belly is. Its truly amazing seeing my belly grow with the babies we created. Nothing will ever make that less beautiful.

I'm 30 weeks and have gained 50 pounds! My weight gain has slowed down the past few weeks. I'm hoping to only put on a pound a week for the next 8 weeks and that will still be less than I gained with my son (60 pounds)!

I too, feel like a WHALE! Although I haven't gained much weight, I hate how big I am already!! I am not a tiny girl to begin with, so docs are NOT concerned about my lack of weight gain, but I am just so wide LOL - I know there are two babies vs. my pregancy with my son, but YUCK. I am soo much wider (getting what looks like major love handles on my sides) and even getting stretch marks on my BUTT! With my son, I was all BELLY and didn't really get it anywhere else. . .I know it will be soooo worth it, but I have a hard time looking in the mirror these days! Although you forget about all these "fun" things that come along with pregnancy once holding the babies!

This was me! I wouldn't worry about it. I gained A LOT of weight (almost 80 lbs) with the twins and I was able to get back down to my original weight. I was 125 prepreg and got as close as 128-129 post-preg and then I got pregnant :) I just had the baby and gained a lot of weight again (48lbs) and am not worried about losing it.

I am having trouble gaining weight! Of course, I wasn't string bean thin when I got pregnant but I worry about the babies and if they are growing enough. I am 18 weeks pregnant and at my 17 week ultrasound they were both 7 ounces and on target. I have lost 13lbs since I got pregnant...I blame it on being so sick at the beginning. In between my 3 month and 4 month prenatal visit I had lost 3 lbs. I guess now it is due to the twins taking everything from you?? I am trying to eat healthy but now worrying about counting calories...

Even though I have lost weight I have such a big belly! I feel now what I felt like 6 months pregnant with my son four years ago. But since it is two babies, I guess you do show more earlier on, right?

I want to gain weight, I am just having a rough beginning!
