I've been feeling contractions everyday! It started at about 24 weeks but they are getting stronger and more frequent. I've told me Dr. and my perinatologist and they said it is totally normal and that they are not doing anything to my cervix. As of 29 weeks, my cervix was 6cm and shut tight. They also said to just drink water and rest and not to go into triage until I feel about 5 or 6 in one hour. The most I've felt was 4 but then after drinking MORE water and resting, they go away.

Do many of you get them or got them daily? I feel at least about 20 a day! I think that's a lot. But since they don't worry, I don't.

I have been getting a ton lately. But, I am 35 weeks and 4 days. This just started on Friday. Both my Dr. and the other Dr. I had to see told me that you will feel more contractions as the pregnancy progresses. The thing I watch for is if they are consistent in the time apart. I am actually going to get a cheap stop watch soon so I can do that easily. Hope you feel better soon.

I always got contractions (daily) and then at about 34 weeks they became painful and frequent, however I was not in labor. It was terrible!!

Angelica, I got them daily from 25 weeks on. My doctor told me the same thing, that unless I get 5 or more in an hour, there isn't much they can do or will do. I hope they calm down for you.

I used to get them often too. That was my sign that I was overdoing and needed to spend more time off my feet and resting. Your body is trying to tell you something. I think it is important to listen. I think it's really hard when you "feel" like you can do more but your body is telling you differently but for eveyone involved, it's important to respect what your body istrying to tell you.
    Take it easy!

I'm only 25 weeks but since I was 18 I get at least 20 a day. I would say on average 4-5 an hour. I have told my doctor and he doesn't seem concerned or he doesn't believe I really know what contractions are. I get them no matter what I do and if I drink water I get more. I could lay on my left side and drink a gallon of water and I would get the same if not more than if I was up walking all day drinking hardly anything let alone water.

I've had them from about 16 weeks--but not more than 4 per hour. However, I'm 36 weeks today & I get them all day long. Yesterday evening, it was every time I would get up & walk around. Last night, I was having them about every 12 minutes apart for about 2 hours then about 10 minutes apart for another hour. I called my Birthing Center and she said if they were lasting longer than 30-60 seconds (the contrax/tightening), they were most likely Braxton Hicks. Mine were lasting about 1.5-2 minutes long--apparently that is too long to be a "real" contraction. She said if they started getting around 7 minutes apart, and only lasting 30-60 seconds, then I need to come in. She also suggested drinking MORE water & continuing to rest/try to sleep. They did stop, but the BH are such confusing contractions. They've also told me to lay on my left side & drink lots of water. Some days that would help, but it didn't last night.

I had them every day starting at about 26 weeks, and my doctor said the same thing. I actually kept track of them on a little notebook and didn't call the doc unless I had more than 6 in an hour.

Then, after about 30 weeks, that was happening so frequently that she said "If you have more than 6 in an hour, drink a liter of water and lie down, and don't call me unless you have more than 6 the next hour too." :D

She also said that it wasn't as much of a concern if they were obviously being triggered by something -- standing up, walking around, sneezing, peeing, whatever -- and if they weren't regular. If you get 3 right in a row and then nothing for half an hour, then 3 more, that's not as worrying as if you get one every 5 minutes.

It is definitely stressful, though, even though it's normal!

Don't you love being told to drink "more water"? I feel like I'm going to float away some days and then to try and drink even more! I've had contractions since 28 weeks. The doctors gave me Brethine for them and later Procardia. They checked my cervix a lot over the past 7 weeks. As long as it was long and thick, they told me not to worry. They just took me off the meds since I hit 35 weeks.
