feeling conflicted! I don't like my stroller and want another

I have the city mini and I don't like it. Or I should say there are some things I like and others I hate. It's lightweight and steers easily. It handles well on most surfaces. What I dislike: The seats are low (i'm tall), the straps seems to be a pain to adjust, my kids look like they are constantly stooped instead of sitting up, the basket is not accesible and it comes with NOTHING. I have to buy the belly bar, cup holder, rain shield etc.

It wasn't cheap and I can't seem to justify getting another stroller, although my DH said I should go ahead b/c he sees my frustration. I was thinking of getting two single strollers that we can attach with a stroller connector, so that the babes can sit up properly. Any advice?

Thanks. Oh, and I don't want to break the bank again but am willing to spend to get two decent strollers.

How long have you had the city? If it has not been too long, I would suggest sticking with it awhile to see if you might start to like it. If you have used it awhile and really don't like it, I would suggest you sell it and put the money towards either another double or two singles--BUT don't buy the connectors. We used them with two umbrella strollers and they are pretty worthless. We threw ours away out of frustration with them.

I have yet to find the perfect stroller, single or double. Some come close but there is always something I would change to every-single-stroller we own! Dh jokes that I need to start a new career as a stroller designer, lol :D

Thanks for responding! I totally agree. Every stroller i've tried is lacking something. DH and I one a daily basis say that we should open a baby business and design things so they actually work and make sense

Do you have a stroller that lets the babes sit upright?

haha, we should get together to design the perfect stroller!

I have two doubles, a Graco Quattro and the Combi. The Graco sits them upright better than the Combi, which keeps the babies at a slant. I'm going to work on that stroller to see if I can redesign the back to make the seats sit up better.

Right now I'm hanging onto both of the doubles, but would love to try the City or the double BOB. (I have a slight stroller addiction, lol)

For singles, we have an Graco MetroLite from 2005 (with the handle to release the seat, not the strap) that I like a lot. It has a nice big basket that we put a cooler in when we go to Disneyland :) We also have a Maclaren Techno that holds a heavier toddler (I'd say max 50 lbs) nicely. We also have a Maclaren Major which holds just over a 100lb child. That one is a special needs stroller for our disabled son, but it pushes like a dream and looks like a regular stroller.

There are just the strollers we have kept. The ones we didn't like we sold on Craigslist.

Dh is 6'6", he has trouble with a lot of strollers with handles that are too low. Have you found that some of the strollers have handles that are too short?

Totally! DH is around 6'3, if not 6'4, and i'm 5'10. All the cheaper umbrella strollers make me feel as though I am pushing a toy, instead of a real baby.

The city isn't bad, it's just my kids sit like logs in it b/c it is alwats somewhat reclined.

I can see why you are addicted to strollers, I think I could be too. Good think I am being rather indecisive about this or I would have a garage full of them

I have a City Elite and wish it sat up a little straighter as well - BUT, I had read about this problem going into my purchase, so it doesn't bother me as much. If you want a stroller that comes with lots of extras - rain shield, sun shield, etc. - look at Zooper. I chose a Zooper Swing over a Mac Techno so I would get all the extras and was very satisfied (single stroller purchase for my oldest child in 2005). The Tango is the double comes with a lot of accessories and now has sunshades that operate independently (it used to be one big canopy for both babies). And Zooper has fabulous customer service.

    Good luck with your decision!

I would recommend a double jogger. It won't solve the sitting upright problem, but that will solve itself as the kids get older. We had a Maclaren double umbrella stroller (which was also pricey!) and I didn't like it much either. We kept it (until this fall) because we did use it occasionally, but we also bought a double Mountain Buggy that got used for hours every week. I always tell people that stroller saved my life.

I know it's hard to justify spending more money on another pricey stroller, but having the right stroller makes SUCH a difference in your quality of life, I think it's worth it. Economize on something else, like food or clothes. ;)
