When did you KNOW that you were feeling two babes move?? I felt movement off/on from 18/19wks and about 2wks ago I started noticing kicks to the outside.

Two nights ago I KNEW there were two babes moving in there with the amt and how spread out the movements were etc.

But the last two days??????????? They are VERY quiet. I know I've felt one babe for sure move/kick - kicks felt on the outside so definately movement - but not as much as two nights ago.

HOW DO I KNOW BOTH BABES ARE OKAY AND MOVING????

    This is driving me nuts............

How far along are you? Depending on their position you may or may not be able to differentiate one baby from another. There were several times that I swore up and down that I was only feeling one baby and they would hook me up to the u/s machine and sure enough they were both in there moving and grooving! I would say as long as you are feeling movement, not to worry. If you are concerned though, you can always call your Dr and see what he/she has to say about it. Good Luck!

I agree you can alwaus call your doctor but I did find it hard to differentiate movement for both. I just never worried about it.

I still haven't felt anthing, I know it's very early, but I really am looking forward to those little kicks. I felt my son around week 20 I'm hoping since this is my second pregnancy and there are two in there, that I will feel them a bit earlier.

I suppose it depends on how they are laying wheather you feel two seperate kicks or what might seem like only one. Hope that your worries subside, sometimes it's so easy to get stressed out over worrying for our children, I know and I am sure I will feel the same way then I start feeling different variations of activity.

first of all have you been more active or distracted lately? sometimes that can take away from feeling movements, i know it does for me. i can go an entire day without noticing a single kick and then just rest and they go crazy. if you haven't felt them move in a while i would either sit back in a recliner with your feet up, lay on your left side or just find a really comfortable position to rest in. then start relaxing, take some deep breaths and rub your belly...sometimes when they feel you or when you rile them up with a little jiggle they will respond.

i started to feel my first kick at 18 weeks. it was sporadic and i didn't feel another one for some time. they really became active around 20 weeks and that's when i could physically feel them dancing and rolling and what not inside me. it took until about 23-24 weeks to realize that their were two sets of movements going on. i would feel equal movement all over my belly at once or one side would move and the other would react to it immediately.

try not to worry. if the relaxation doesn't work and you still haven't noticed their movements give a call to your OB. you are still early in the movement game, so don't stress yourself out about it.

    good luck!

my girls had quiet days and i always freaked out and called the dr. they told me that they just have quiet days and it doesn't necessarily mean that anything is wrong but i was always welcomed at the triage for an NST. i started feeling them move and seeing them move from the outside around week 23. Towards the end they were quiet all the time because they were running out of room but they were perfectly healthy.

Thanks ladies! I'm 23.5wks now so I'm just at the beginning...I didn't feel anything last night when I laid down to sleep - and I fell asleep very uneasy. But this morning I felt a minute or two of squirmies/kicks more to my left side so I'm hoping that Baby A is back to transverse and Baby B is breech along the left and they had a foot fest! :)
I'm in a transition with my GP and my OB - the GP has transferred my care but I've not seen the OB yet so I'm not sure which one I should call?

That being said, I HAVE felt movement today so I'm hoping all is good.....

I'm way more nervous with this pregnancy then I ever have been before.

just try and relax, you are still early in feeling fetal movement, at least of the strong variety. just be happy that you felt some thing today and try and relax.

i would call the OB even if you haven't seen them yet. they will answer, or try to, all your questions and try to put you at ease about the pregnancy. just tell them you would like to speak with the nurse on staff, that you are a new patient of so and so and would like to have some concerns addressed. they should be able to help you out over the phone. if not, wait until after hours and talk to the on call OB - that is if you are really concerned.

i wonder though why you have been with a GP and not an OB so far? that seems odd to me.

nevertheless, just remember the babies can sense when mommy is upset or overly worked up. maybe have some relaxation time, try to rid yourself of worries and lay somewhere comfortable with someone rubbing your back/feet or rubbing your belly. the movements will come, i promise.

DH did really feel anything externally until about 24 weeks. a lot will change each day so try and be patient. don't worry too much about it or you might end up tricking yourself into thinking something is terribly wrong.

and these babies will be very mobile for a few more weeks, flipping up and down...i've got one in my rib cage and one in my pelvic area at the moment. sometimes one will lay completely across my upper belly too. they are just very mobile because they've still got some room to wiggle.

take it easy, try not to worry and everything will be ok :)

but i certainly understand about the worrying part of the pregnancy. i do notice, however that the more concerned, anxious or worried i get the less movement i feel. the more relaxed the more movement and belly jumps. :D

glad you felt something to day, hopefully you'll feel some more.

congrats on your pregnancy too by the way :D

I started to notice flutters about 18/19 wks as well. Now I'm closing in on either 25-26wks, I forget! The boys kick and punch me alot.
For a few days they settled down and were prolly punching and kicking each other like they do. Sometimes I think they are mostly kicking my internals so I don't really notice it. Now they are right back at beating on mamma.

Often times if I drink juice, sweet tea, ice cream, or just about anything sweet that revs them up. Good think I don't like sweet things!

Be sure to ask your ob or peri when you go in if it's been a long stretch. Also, if you are able to tell which baby is where just try to keep a mental note if one becomes more or less active.

I don't know if you have mono/di my memory is shot. It's just something my dr's said to pay attention to and let them know. I'm also a high risk pregnancy so they pay super close attention.

Don't be alarmed, but also don't be afraid to call and ask if that makes you feel better. The added stress can make them quiet too. So, Mommy, try to relax a bit and I bet they will kick at you some. :winking:

Sometimes if you sit something on your tummy (i.e. great shelf for a big glass of milk), someone will kick it!

    Well, it worked for me.

It sounds lilke the OP is in the UK. Thats the system here, particularly for women having their babies on the NHS. Most women do not have OBs. They have their GP and midwife unless there is a problem or high risk pregnancy (and twins fall into this category, which is why she would be transitioning to an OB).

I would call your GP until you have your first appt with your OB. If there's a problem, the GP should be able to arrange an immediate appt with the OB or necessary specialist. Good luck to you. Hope all is ok.

Thanks for the congrats! :) And for the reassurance. As for why I'm not with the OB yet - we just discovered the twins at my routine 21wk u/s on the 5th of May. I saw the GP for my regular appt on the 7th, and she sent a referral letter that day to the OB - the first appt they had avail was the 26th of this month, so I am waiting til this coming Tues. No clue what to expect as I've never used OB's before...

I had a cup of coffee this am and that's when I really felt it! And yes, these are mono/di, so that just makes me think more Being a nurse does NOT help matters....knowledge is NOT power when there is nothing actually going 'wrong'. I intend to enjoy the family tomorrow so hopefully that should help out! :)

    :p

ya know, i remember that from my daughteter! LOL

Someone else also mentioned relaxation time for me - we're headed to some really good friends tomorrow for some hanging out - that should help out! :)

Thanks everyone for listening. My logical mind says all is okay, but sometimes you just need to hear it from someone else!
