Feeling a lot of pressure...is this normal?

Discussion in 'Pregnancy Help' started by TwinBoyMomtoBe, Sep 27, 2009.

Okay ladies! I am fairly new around here...and have a quick question. I am currently 24 1/2 weeks with di/di boys...and am feeling a lot of vaginal "pressure" I guess. When I am up and doing much of anything I feel like I have vaginal swelling and feel like they could just fall out at any time. TMI, but honestly it sometimes feels like there is something "in there".

I am not having contractions or craps or whatever...and no discharge other than the norm...

So...has anyone else experienced anything like this. It gets me a little concerned at times...I didn't have this with my singleton, but realize it may just be on eof the joys of twin pregnancy.

Thanks for any advice or words of experience!

    Kate

I started having lots of pressure at about 20 weeks. My OB wasnt concerned. I mentioned it again this appointment, as I was also in PTL at 24 weeks, so I thought something was up. She prescribed me a maternity belt to help support my belly. She told me it was just the weight of babies plus placenta and water. If you are really concerned call your OB.

  2. Thanks so much for the reply. I have an appointment with my doc on Tuesday...so I will certainly bring it up then. Mine started around 20 weeks as well...so I assume its just the weight of the babies. Thanks again!

I had a lot of pressure too. I would bring it up to your OB.

Yes, so many joys of twin pregnancy vs. singleton pregnancy!!! I have had horrible pain/pressure in the same area as well and it turns out that I have terrible varicose veins down there! I have been wearing these (Motherhood knock offs of) Spanx Maternity Power Mama Panty. I wear them EVERY DAY and they help a lot! The ones from Motherhood are only $16 so it's worth buying to see if they help!

    Good luck!

OMG! I had SO much pressure from about week 24 on! It hurt so badly! Especially when getting up out of a chair or out of bed, felt like my pelvis was splitting open! For sure, one of the joys of twin pregnancy! I tried the belly belt, but it was too uncomfortable for me as I was ALL belly (which was HUGE). Good luck!

hi! You should probably check with your dr to be safe.
I have had the pressure you mentioned off and on since about 20 weeks. When I mentioned it to my ob, he was concerned enough to check me for dialation and run an FFN test. He still asks me about it and checks me at every visit. All has checked out well for me each time though so he tells me it must be the weight of the twin pregnancy!
    Good luck to you!!

I asked about the same thing at the doctor today and they said it was normal. I get it mostly at the very bottom of my belly, not the vag area. It feels like a bowling ball sitting in my gut. If I walk for more than a few minutes, it starts up and I have to sit down.

So, I just do a lot of sitting and laying down these days.

I'm almost 24 weeks and had a similar feeling. I explained it to my doc's office as sensitivity and pressure that felt like I had a tampon in that was starting to fall out! I didn't have this feeling with my son-but I know it's a whole new ballgame now with twins. The nurse's guess was that it was pressure from the pubis spreading to prepare for delivery. Either way she said as long as there was no signs of PTL and no decreased movement in the babies to not worry about it-and to have them check me out at my next appt.

How did your appt. go yesterday?

  11. Thanks for checking on me! My appointment went well...no ultrasound though...which I hoped for...but she said since I had no cramping, discharge (other than the norm), blood, etc...to not worry...that it was just b/c of how low one of the boys is and it should be fine.

I pray it is not doing anything to shorten my cervix....but she seemed to not worry...so I'm not...

    I go back in 2 1/2 weeks...

As of yesterday I bought one of those crazy belly holder contraptions ...and it helped a TON today while teaching. It really did take the weight off...I was rather surprised.

So...here's hoping all is well...I can't wait till my next ultrasound to get to see them again! Until then...the constant kicks will have to suffice! :)
