    Hi ladies,

I have 6 week b/g twins. My son eats between 4-5 oz every 2 1/2- 3 1/2 hours. Often it is 2 1/2 because he seems to be starving. We will try everything before finally breaking down and giving him his bottle. When we do, he will suck it down as if he hasn't eaten in days. He is a big boy, but nothing crazy. My husband is a pretty big guy too. What do you all think? Is this too much? I believe he weighs between 11-12 lbs now. Thanks in advance.

    Hi Carisa!

Sounds like he is a great eater! I am of the theory that you cannot overfeed a baby at that age unless they are spitting up a ton of it back at you. I had the opposite problem with my twins because of reflux, so I say let him have it!

One of my boys takes after his Daddy who was a big baby - Alex was born early but is eating to catch up! I believe in feeding them when they ask for it. You can't get fat or eat too much BM at this age! If you're concerned that he's gaining weight too quickly, check with your Pedi, but I'll bet s/he'll agree. :)

Thanks for the input. He doesn't really spit up very often, so I guess that is a good thing. Also, I am feeding them formula, Enfamil Lipil, because I actally had a surrogate carry them for me. They got breastmilk that she pumped only the first week or so. Does that make a difference? And actually, I was rereading my post and I have to say that he actually is getting about 5 oz at every feeding during the day and anywhere between 3-5 at night. It flucuates a bit. This morning he actually had 5.8 for the first time. Wow, he really does love his food. It's pretty cute.

I agree with PP's you can't over feed a baby. Be happy you've got a really good eater on your hands ^_^

I know how you feel all too well :) My girls were both finishing 4 oz bottles every 1.5 hrs at two weeks old. They stayed on a 1.5 hr feeding schedule until they were 4.5 months old. Even still they have to eat every 2 - 2.5 hrs and their bottles are 6.5 - 7 oz.

The older they get the more they eat in a sitting. Eventually it will space out, but it sounds like he's having a growth spurt. I don't think you can overfeed a baby either. I used to have to practically force feed my kids so you've got it easy! Keep up the good work!

I'm glad to hear you ladies say this, I've been wondering about this for awhile. He just LOVES his bottles. It actually makes my husband and I laugh. He's pretty funny! I feel like I'm always worrying about something.....Suzy, sounds like your babies were healthy eaters too!!! Wow!
