    Hello everyone,

I had posted a question 3 days ago about feeding twins together. Thanks for the suggestions. Now I am working on feeding both at the same time on 2 boppy pillows. It is challenging to prop the bottle with blanket but will work on it. IT SAVES ME TIME AT NIGHT. After feeding then every 3 hours( preterm babies, have to feed 3 hourly for probably 2 more months) & pumping, I still have about 2 hours to do other stuff. It is great. Feeding on bouncers did not work very well as their necks are not strong. We keep the boppies on our bed, so at 2 in the morning, when we are sleepy, I feel safe.

Now the other issue, they cry & yell at night. If one starts after her feed, she will surely cry till the next feed which is 2 & half hours later. Nothing helps. Walking, bouncer, soothing motion glider. Finally I sit on the recliner with the crying infant in hands & take cat naps. I feel terrible but dont know what to do.Any suggestions.

This forum has become a part of my routine these days. I feel better to know that There are others going through the same issues. I never liked sitting in front of the computer, but now I squeeze in some time everyday. Thanks for the support.

I know this is dumb....but have you tried burping? We figured this out after a couple days. One big burp and it is all over!

Hi! Nice to see another Alabama twin mom on here!
Definitely burping them would help as the previous poster suggested...a trapped gas bubble is **** on a baby!
How old are they? Have you tried the infant gas drops? We refer to them as "liquid gold" around here..couldn't live without 'em!
Other than that, we just have one colicky baby who cries alot...we've tried a warm water bottle laid on his tummy, tried laying him tummy down on his daddy's chest..the only thing that worked for us consistently is his baby swing! When they were younger, I would put them in their swings as soon as they were fed, burped, and changed and they'd sleep there until the next feed 3 hours later! Now, I let them fall asleep and then move them to their cribs...
Have you tried wearing your baby? Like, in a sling or baby carrier? My colicky one always liked being carried around, and to be able to do that hands free is a dream! ha!
Other than that, have you mentioned the fussiness to your pediatrician? If all else fails, it could possibly be an allergy issue related to the formula...
..when you're doing all you can, don't feel bad when they still scream at ya! Sometimes, it's best to just lay them down in their crib/bassinet and take a breather..it gives you a chance to catch your breath and remind yourself that you are handling your babies the best you can...who knows, maybe while baby is laid in her crib, she will drift off to sleep?! Here's hoping!

Thanks for the input. I will try burping them when fussy. My babies are 3 months old. They were 3 months early, so newborns now. I have brought the sling, it works well during the day. Problem is at night. I am too sleepy & tired to walk them. I dont want to get them in the habit, I guess. But most times I am holding them & walking. They are om EBM exclusively. So always an issue of crying while I pump. We are trying hard to try to make them sleep better through the night. Any suggestions?

do you swaddle? mind would NOT sleep without it and we kept them swaddled until almost 6 months. If it is just at night that they are fussy, it probably isn't a reaction to your milk (if it happens all the time though as well as excess spittin gup, they might be sensitive to somethign in your diet.) it's likely the burp- it's harder to do when you're so tired!!! but maybe the swaddling would help sooth them quicker.
good luck- one of these days things will calm down (another month or so :hug99: )

Are they having to wait until after you get through pumping to eat? Or are you pumping after they are fed? Maybe you could give them a bottle of formula once, then pump after they are fed that formula..then you will be one step ahead of things!
If they are crying after they are fed and changed, and just want to be held while you are busy pumping..maybe you could try putting them in their carseats and rocking them with your feet while you use your hands to help with your pump?...Just a thought...
Mine are almost 4 months, 5 weeks early...
As far as sleeping better at night...I separated them into two separate cribs since they liked to stretch out so much...that helped them to get comfortable and not be woken up by a slap in the face from brother! ha!
But, mine still wake every 3-4 hours at night, so I don't have great advice for sleeping the night through, maybe they're just too young still...

You said your babies were early, if you don't mind my asking..did you have to deliver in Birmingham at UAB? Or do they have a good facility in Mobile? I'm from around Lake Martin area, do you know it? I had to deliver in B'ham....

They do not have to wait for me to pump. I have plenty frozes BM. I usually pump after they are fed. I swaddle them every night, dim lights, low noises. Trying to get them in night time routine. I do not swaddle them when they sleep during the day. Want them to be awake in the day time. I hope it is a good idea. They sleep in the same crib. I lay them across. Space is not yet an issue.

In Mobile we have a 90 bedded NICU. It is a very good hospital. So luckily didnt have to go to Burmingham for anything.[quote name='heartofdixiemama'
