    Hey,

I am not new to feeding babies. I've got 2 older than the twins. However, having the twins has given me a serious case of mommy brain and I can't for the life of me remember how to start feeding the twins solid foods. I've got them started on cereal, but can't remember when to add veggies & fruits into the mix. Ryan especially is eating great. He grabs the spoon to his mouth when he eats the cereal, so I'm taking that as a sign that he is ready to move on, but I'm just having a serious lapse on how to start, when to start the veggies. Can someone shed some light on this for me? I'd really appreciate it!

    TIA!
    Amy

www.wholesomebabyfood.com has some great charts on what foods are good to introduce when. it also has lots of food prep info if you're interested in making your own baby food. GL!

The website the pp mentioned is great. We started on rice cereal at 5 months (and then moved to oatmeal at 5.5 months b/c rice cereal was constipating). At 6 months we started to cycle through veggies - we started with yellow/orange and did each one for 3 days. We did carrots, avacado (ok, this one is obviously not yellow or orange...) sweet potatoes, apples, peas, pears (I stopped this one early as it gave them an upset tummy - maybe just too much?), squash (I would have done this one earlier, but I burned it the first time I made it lol...talk about mommy brain)and next will be green beans, and then bananas. Have fun!

I love the wholesomebabyfood website for info and recipes and I also really liked the book Super Baby Food. Make sure you follow a 4 day wait rule before introducing a new food so that you can see if there is going to be any reaction. GL and have fun.

My dr told me to start mixing fruit in with the cereal around 6 months. I think that the best thing to remember is just to do it one at a time to make sure there are no allergies.

We started veggies very shortly after rice cereal. Our pedi recommended doing orange veggies first since they are mild in taste (sweet potatoes, squash, carrots), then green (green beans, spinach, etc), and then fruits. We always followed the 4 day rule too to make sure they didn't have any reactions to the new food. GL!

We started with fruit first and then switched to veggies. I know that people say to do the veggies first, but it didn't make one bit of difference with our kids. They inhaled everything even if it was accompanied by strange faces b/c of the new tastes! They'll adapt...we started foods (other than cereals) at 5 months (maybe even earlier...there goes my Mommy Brain)!
