My 6 month old boys are happy and healthy and big and hearty.

They wake up at night for the following feedings:

    9:30pm - 8oz bottle formula
    12:30am - 8 oz bottle formula
    3:00am - 8oz bottle formula
    6:00am -4oz bottle formula

    then throughout the day....

    10:00am - 4-6 tablespoons cereal with formula
    1:00pm - 3oz bottle formula
    4:00pm - 3oz bottle formula (or less)
6:00-7:00pm - nibbling and starting to tank up again....getting tired.

so they go to sleep for the night at about 7ish...waking up only to feed.

they get up around 6am for the morning and cat naps throughout the day and not feeding alot during the day.

i find they are tanking up at night and nibbling during the day....

i've tried skipping a feeding or making the amounts at night smaller but they wake up more often and they cry for a long time....so i end up getting up and feeding them cause i'm afraid their little bellies are hurting...

we are TIRED and i dont know how to make the days better for feeding and the nights less for a longer sleep...

    help!

Since they seem to eat much less during the day, and your offering them cereal in the morning, y not skip the cereal in the morning, and offer it in the evening about 5 ish, and see if that will hold them off more at nite?

At 6 months we had to offer another feeding of solids during the day. They were starving. Try to get more calories during the day and offer solids at night. It is what worked for us.

I had this problem w/ my (breastfed) boys for a while. Seems they liked their night sessions much better than the daytime. Quiet...dark...cozy.... :gah: My lactation consultant told us to let them know that night time was NOT feeding time by gradually cutting back on the time they were alotted to nurse when they'd wake up. Within a few days they did get the hint and we allowed them to continue living with us. ;)

My girls do the same thing, except they barely drink 2oz when they wake up. And I swear, it's like they want a bottle every hour or 2. They dont eat that often during the day.
Just my experience, my pedi has us feeding the girls 3x a day. And to be honest, it hasnt worked, until last night. Ive been doinbg it at least a week consistently, But last night it seemed to work. They woke up 1x. OMG, I thought I was going to need a drink to celebrate at 5am, even wanted to go out and hug the trash collector I was so happy. Ive read on here to make sure they get full during the day, my girls are barely starting to drink 5oz at a time, the smallest will drink more than her sister who's very umm hearty/healthy. But the hearty one eats more actual food.
We've done the cat naps during the day, like less than an hour naps. Yesterday, the 2 naps they took were at least 2hrs. I made sure to fill them up before they ate, or feed them close to nap time. Ive been experiementing all week with different tactics.
I did something different today by letting them cat nap during the day, letting them take a cat nap now at 430pm,bc if not, they will wake up at 9pm wanting to play or worse 12am. Im going to wake them up at 530ish and give a bath, feed, then wind down for bed. Here's to hoping it works.
Ive tried so many different tactics, Id swear I was getting ready for a war, its like some big logistical, tactical plan but in the end, they're always the force to reckon with.. SIGH..

Good luck, but I know how you feel.

Wow! , seems like they are getting all of their main nutrition at night. If I were you I would skip morning cereal and try to feed them every 2 hours even small amounts of formula just to get their calories in during the day and then do part formula part water diluted mixture for the night so they think it's milk but it will be with less calories but same volume so hopefully they would catch up an reverse their feedings to daytime.
