how much/often are you 4 month olds eating? mine:

    6:30; 10:30; 2:30; 6:30 (bedtime); 9:30 (dreamfeed) - offer 8 oz of formula.

they usually take between 30 and 40 oz.

I had this same question, because people keep telling me, "when my baby was 4 months, he was eating 8-9 oz at a time." Mine are nowhere near that. BUT they are eating food also, so I'm not sure how that affects it. They are 17 weeks old, 13 adjusted.

(times change every day, depending on when they wake up)

7:00 a.m. cereal and fruit, 4-5 oz bottle (sometimes they don't drink the bottle until an hour or more later)

    10:00 a.m. veggie, 4-5 oz bottle

    2:00 p.m. veggie, fruit, 4-5 oz bottle

    6:00 p.m. veggie, bottle (2-3 oz)

    7:00 p.m. baths

8:00 p.m. 4 oz cereal bottle (oatmeal cereal & formula, mixed thick)
1 1/2- 2 oz formula (with gas drops!)

around 3:30 a.m. another 4 oz cereal bottle

*I originally started doing the cereal bottles because my DD had reflux and the only way I could lay her in the crib, without spiting up, was with thick cereal, and I have just continued it because they do well it.

    At 4 months...

5:30a bf (guessing probably around 4-5 oz)
    8:30a 4 oz bottle
    11:30a 4 oz bottle
    2:30 4 oz bottle
    5:30 bf (4-5 oz)
6:30 started rice cereal (started adding in fruits when they were close to 5 months)
    9:30 bf (4 oz)
    1:30a bf (quick feed...maybe 3-4 oz)

Mine didn't take larger bottles until they were about 6 months old...started taking 4-6oz bottles (5x a day) and at 8 months started taking 6-8oz bottles 4 times a day.

My girls are 16 weeks tomorrow so this was so interesting to read to see if I am on track or not. Kind of hard to tell how many ounces as I breastfeed but these are the times....

    7am (roughly!!)
    10 am
    1 pm
    4 pm
7 pm (topped off with like 3-5oz of formula)
    10 pm (dreamfeed)
    3 am (sometimes)

I'm thinking maybe I should start stretching out times between but I'm afraid I'll be up more during the night. I'm hoping at the 4 mos check up my ped tells me to start some cereal. I'm thinking that will fil them up more to sleep more through night?!

i started to stretch mine out, so they would take more (up to 8 oz) at a time. they were already sleeping through the night (at least most of the time) and i wanted to be able to cut back from 6 to 5 feedings a day. but we formula feed, so i don't know what happens if you stretch it out when you're breastfeeding. i would think they might take more at each feeding, and then sleep through the night.

good luck! i know when it gets to this point, you are so sick of that 3 a.m. feeding!

DD eats 6 ounces per bottle, DS 7.5 (so 30 and 38.5 ounces per day) plus one solids meal (cereal or sweet potatoes so far). It breaks down like this:

    8:00 a.m. bottles

    10:45 solids

    12:15 bottles

    3:00 bottles

    6:00 bottles

    6:45 bed

    10:30 dreamfeed.

I'm scared to give up the dreamfeed b/c they just started sttn this week.

My twins were eating about the same amounts at the same times at that age.
