Hello! I have a quick emergency question because feeding time is fast approaching. . . at two months of age, how often were you feeding your little ones?? Every 3 or 4 hours? Also, about how much were you giving them at each feeding? It seems our one little girl is having a VERY difficult time taking the bottle at 3 1/2 hours. After about 1 1/2 oz. she starts SCREAMING and it is a fight to get her to take any more. What should I do? We saw a gastro. ped. yesterday and we are now on Nutramigen and Pepcid. We shall see.

    Thanks,
    Jen

    Hey Jen

At 2 mo. I believe my boys were eating approx. 3oz every 3 hrs. 8 weeks really seems to be the age when reflux really kicks in. My boys were on Zantac and Prevacid till 9 mos. My ped. said that reflux babies tend to "graze" because they only eat what they need not to feel hungry anymore then stop because it hurts. Only to eat again sooner. Since you just started the meds yesterday, I would not get upset yet that she isn't finishing her bottle. Let her eat what she wants, when she wants until the meds. kick in. As long as she is eating something and is gaining weight she should be okay until the meds take over. Just make sure she isn't getting dehydrated and is still having wet and dirty diapers. I would offer her the bottle more often and let her eat what she will. Hope this helps a little.

I was thiking the same thing. We had a tough time with reflux too so I tried to get small amounts into them in frequent increments. We then increased the length between feedings little by little so we were at a 3 1/2 - 4 hour interval. Hopefully the meds kick in soon!

We were feeding...or trying to feed them every 3 hours at 2 months. The reflux was horrible then, and we hadn't found the right meds yet. They were both refusing bottles like yours are. I hope that the meds start working for you soon, reflux is so difficult. :hug99:

Looking back at my charts at that age they were eating about every 3-4 hours about 3-4 ounces. My Noah around that time went through reflux. Our pedi told us to add rice cereal to the bottles and gave a little Zantac. We also did the forumla switch to soy, then Aliumentum but we found that the rice cereal in Enfamil GentleEase/Breastmilk was the best way to go. He was only on the Zantac for about a month.

Just another quick question. . . What were your childrens symptoms of reflux? Did they ever scream and almost cry through most feedings like they are in a lot of pain? Just wondering.

Yes, and arching their back up.

I fed every 3 hours, sometimes every 2.5 and they were getting around 4 ounces at a time.

Oh, my son is doing the exact same thing! Please, please let me know if you find any relief. We've got him on hypoallergenic formula now and zantac (wondering if he has "silent" reflux) but he's not back to normal. But he's eating so little and feedings are absolute torture - it's as if we're feeding him poison! The rest of the time he is totally content - just feedings are terrible.

Just wanted to let you know we've seen some improvement over the last 6 feedings. Here's what we're doing (not sure what exactly is helping, but something is!):
    -Hypoallergenic formula (http://enfamil.ca/en/products/formulas_6.html)
    -Zantac twice a day
-tummy massage and hot water bottle before every feeding (tummy massage for about 5 minutes, hot water bottle on tummy for about 5 minutes, longer if we have time)
    -always warming the bottle
-not stopping for any burp breaks until the end of the feeding if we can help it (he can't seem to get back on track if we take any breaks)
I don't know if he has reflux, intense gas or what...but the last 18 hours have been better. He's not quite eating what he used to, but it's better than the days before when he could only eat an ounce per feeding because he was in so much pain.
I hope you have some relief too - keep in touch.
