Ok, so at thier 6month check up the ped told me to start feeding them table foods( they r small in weight) so for those of you guys who are table feeding how do you do it? What for breakfast/lunch and dinner and snacks? How much formula do u give them and how much food together? Also the doc said that if they do well with food then at thier 9month check up then they can start real cows milk- (DD has reflux and no meds or formula is helping). Im excited for thanksgiving- the doc told me to let them go hog wild 9 yumm pumpkin pie, mashed taters, etc..)

I'm assuming they've had the run down on baby stuff ie. cereals, fruits, veggies, mixed etc.?? It would probably depend on how they are "mashing and chewing" to see what they can handle. My girls have been getting some table foods for the past 1.5 mos and this is what I give them. (they also still get baby food - so I will include meals etc.)
    They split these:
    Breakfast:
    Baby oatmeal
    1 tub stage 2 fruit
    dry cheerios
    6 oz bottle each

    Lunch:
    2 tubs stage 2 veggie
    1 tub stage 2 fruit
dried fruit / cheerios / puffs
    6oz bottle each

    Snack - 3:30 pm
    1 yo baby yogurt
jucie / water mix in sippy OR
    4oz bottle

    Dinner:
    2 stage 2 jars of a dinner
I usually mix barley cereal (mixed w/ formula) with one of the dinners - chicken and apples usually they love it
    1 stage 3 jar veggie
    1 stage 2 tub fruit
They will get one or two of these table foods to go along with their meal-
cut up banana about 1/3, cut up avocado 1/3, cut up canned green beans or carrots, turkey breast lunch meat, I've also tried waffles, pancakes, bread, cheese, sweet potatoe, mash tater, cauliflower, and then the staples.. puffs and cheerios.
My girls each have bottom teeth so they do well on some of the hard stuff.
    7oz bottle each. -

3:30 am - 6 oz bottle. had to throw this in so you know they do get another bottle of formula
They also usually will drink about 3 oz from 5:30 - 6:30 am depending.
I hope this helps a little.

Wow, 6 months seems early to be starting table food. The first thing I would try are puffs and then move to something like cheerios. Have they had puffs yet? I don't know there is no way my two, I know they were preemie, or my oldest DD would have been able to start table food at 6 months. Just make sure it's soft and in small pieces.

That seems kind of early to me for table food. We haven't even started any yet!! Just sticking with chunkier homemade baby food and some cheerios right now.

My ped didn't recommend table food until 9 months.

Isn't it funny how all dr.'s are different?

you know what's best for your little ones though! Sorry I don't have any suggestions!

Yeah we haven't started table food either. We tried puffs once about 2 weeks ago and it became apparent that 1) they aren't ready for it and 2) Meara has an excellent gag reflex

Good luck with starting them- I'm sure it will be cheaper than baby food! -Leighann
