When do you start extending feedings to every 4 -6 hours and increasing the amount to feed your babies?
Mine are eating every 3 hours during the day and are eating between 3 and 5 ounces each feeding. Mostly between 3 and 4. At night they are going a longer stretch of about 5-6 hours to start and then 4 after that. They eat more at night. I'm just wondering when I can extend day time feedings to be less often but more quantity and how to do that? Or even if I should be doing that yet?

My girls were stretched to 4 hours around the clock around 3 months old and then had one 6 hour stretch at night a little after 4 months old.

Hi, you can just stretch their bottles a little at a time. Maybe you can try 20-30 minutes at a time until you get them to every 4 hours.

we started the eat, play, sleep routine around 2 months. we followed the rule that they should be up for no more than 2 hrs at a time before going back to sleep for "nap" and as they stretched out their "play" time and "nap" time, it gradually made it to 4 hours and i'd have to wake them up to feed them :) HTH

We are still doing every 3 hours during the day - my thinking being that they STTN, so they need to get their ounces during the day. They eat 5 7 oz. bottles at 3 hour intervals. We plan to go to every 4 hours at 6 months when we add a second solid meal.

My boys never stop eating. We are still doing every three hours during the day and usually 3 solid meals. They just won't take more than the 6-7 oz and they scream like crazy if you try to wait longer than 3 hours.

I thought adding the solids would help but it doesn't seem to change the bottle schedule at all. They do sleep about 10 hours at night though and any time we mess with their bottles they revolt by keeping us up all night :spiteful:. We don't mess with their bottles any more!

Ours are still every 3 hours during the day too...we have tried to stretch it, but they don't seem to want to go longer. They are eating about 6-7 oz at each feeding, and we just started doing some solid foods about a week ago (once every few days...not every day).
