Just wonderding how you all handle feeding your newborns at the same time? I have 4 week old twin girls and I have tried to stagger there feeds, by they always manage to sync up again. especially at night, when I am very tired and makes it extremely hard on me.

I am open to any suggestions? Does it get any easier?!!!

    thanks!

I use 2 boppies on the floor. I also use a burp cloth to prop the bottle of one baby while I burp the other. It is definitely a time-saver to feed both babies together and have them on the same schedule. You can get a little more sleep that way ;) .

My newborns were too small for Boppies the first few months, but I would use a body pillow or king size pillow to prop them up. I also sat in the recliner and put one on the side of each leg (so they were between the arm of the recliner and my leg). You will be able to experiment and try several things until you find what works best for you. For middle of the night feeds, I usually fed them in their infant carriers (which they slept in frequently).

I also propped mine on pillows & sat in front of them and held their bottles. Or I fed them in their carseats. Hang in there! It does get easier when they are a bit bigger.

I was lucky to not have to feed my boys by myself when they were that age. I like the other suggestions from the PP's. When they get a little older, the Podee bottles really helped me when feeding them by myself and at the same time. I was able to start using them at 3 months, but you could try them earlier if you are comfortable with that. Let me know if you have any questions about the logistics of that.

Good luck and hang in there, it does get better as the time goes by!

My girls are 5 weeks old. I use boppies to prop them up - one on either side of me on the couch. Sometimes I am able to prop one bottle with a burp cloth while I burp the other - but usually they just have to wait for their sister to burp. Good luck!

I would sit on the couch next to the arm of the couch, with a boppy around my waist. I put the bottles within reach on the table near me, and I put the car seat next to me on the couch. I took one baby and put her on the boppy the way it is intended to be used, with baby #2 in the car seat. Then I took baby #2 out of the car seat and placed her on the boppy sort of in between the boppy and the arm of the couch. I could feed them both that way on me with only one boppy, and if I remembered to put the phone on the table with the bottles I could even talk on the phone at the same time too.

We didn’t. We realized that two babies screaming to be fed at the same time was going to be stressful, especially if only one of us was home. So right from the start we staggered their feedings by about 30 minutes. We only switched to feeding at the same time when they were able to hold their own bottles.

boppy pillow user here! and I prop a smaller pillow to help hold bottles. I always have one finish before the other so I burp her, set her down and move on to the other twin!

I try to do the same thing. But they always manage to sync up on me and want tp eat at the same time. I guess its the twin thing. very difficult! :)

Pretty much everyone seems to have addressed feeding in the day but I'm not sure if they have the same practice for night feedings. My Husband is a shift worker so I am always feeding them by myself during the night. This is what I did (continue to do with slight modifications ie I'm usually able to stagger them now). This system allowed me to maximize my sleep so I could function during the day for my 2 yo daughter.

The twins sleep in a mini crib next to my bed. I have water, bottles and a powdered formula dispenser on my night stand (3 bottles worth). I keep diapers, wipes and a change pad at the foot of the crib. When babies start to stir I mix bottles up right away. Then I take baby #1 out and change diaper, set baby on pillow next to me on the bed. Then I take #2 out and change diaper place on pillow next to #1. I pick up a bottle in each hand and am able to feed both while kind of lounging on my side (if that makes sense) One will usually finish first so I prop other baby's bottle with receiving blanket while I burp, reswaddle and place baby #1 back in crib. Then I repeat with other baby.

Honestly I really didn't feel as sleep deprived as I thought I would (even in the very beginning).

Hope you're able to figure out something that works for you.

They have their first morning bottle (around 5/6 am) and let them stay in bed with me  until my daughter comes in to get us and for a cuddle at 7:30.

At first, we couldn't. Even after we brought them home from the NICU they had some feeding-related apnea issues and we had to make sure they kept breathing while we fed them.

At about 8 weeks that went away and I could feed them at the same time.

I would stick them in their bouncy seats and sit in front of them. When they got a little bigger I would hold both of them in my lap and feed them at the same time. My arms killed me but it went quickly. :)

We used the Boppy Newborn lounger instead of the regular Boppy when they were little. This solved the problem of them sinking in too far in the regular boppy. Now we use 2 bouncy seats.

I have always used the bouncy seats because they kept the boys more upright when they ate. I used them at night too.

It takes a bit of practice, but you will get it. Now I find it easier than feeding one baby, but that is just me!

If I am feeing them on the first floor I am using the bouncer seats. seat in front of them and use both my hands to feed them. we usually start a tthe same time but after half of the bottle my DD start to fall asleep so I am feeding them one by one. I gave DD to sleep while I a feeding DS. and after I anm waking up DD and finish her feeding.

On the second floor I put 2 boppy pillow in the crib. put babies there and stay infront of the crib holding the bottles ( my spine killing me sometimes after that feeding)

I feed them on the couch. I prop them up on pillows. I tried the boppy but they kinda sunk into them. My DD sometimes gets fussy (reflux) during a feeding then I put my feet up on the coffee table and lay her on my legs facing me.

This was exactly what I did except I used small blankets to help prop them.

totally forgot about those. Those were the best pillows ever created!!! I think I remember that the first couple of months we also fed them in those and just put a small pillow under it to lift them up a little so they weren't eating laying flat.
