One of my littlest twins has developed awful fussyness with most of her bottles. It started with the late evening bottle a few weeks back, and now seems to be happening more often.

She'll take 2 oz then stop, we'll burp her (which sometimes takes a while), and for the rest of the bottle she'll latch on, take 2 chugs ( gulping hard - I dont know how to get her to stop, nipole level doesn't seem to matter) then cry, kick her feet and squirm. She is clearly uncomfortable.

It seems odd to me that these issues started around 7 weeks old. One of our older girls had feeding issues but they were right from the get-go.

We've tried Enfamil AR - she falls asleep because it takes so long to feed her. Tried fussyness formula - she spit it up bad.

Any other suggestions? We use Dr Browns bottles and have tried level 2 and level 1 nipples and both do the same thing.

I feel so bad for her... And it's starting to affect how much she eats. She was eating more a few weeks back.

Our boys started showing symptoms of reflux around that age. We tried all kinds of formulas but in the end what helped was thickening their formula and the pedi prescribed 15mg of Prevacid for 1 DS who had worse reflux. Also, I hated trying to thicken with rice and ended up making my own gel thickener, which worked great.

Also, if you think her tummy is bothering her I would recommend trying Cocyntal homeopathic vials. Our boys had horrible tummy issues in addition to reflux, and I tried every gripe water, gas drop, etc I could find. The only thing that ever seemed to help our boys were the Cocyntal vials.

Good luck with the little ones! The first year is so hard, but it will get easier :)

 When I first read your post, my initial thought was reflux. Maybe take note for a day or two-document her behavior at feeding time-and call the pedi and asked to be seen. It seems like she is in discomfort only while feeding, right? And I think it can start at anytime. Let the pedi know-and let us know what he/she says.

In the meantime-have you tried holding her more upright while feeding? Shortened feeds and burping more often? I didn't have kids with reflux issues, but I had the spitup issue. I hope you find out what the problem is!

My daughter was the same, exactly the way you describe her, with eating with gulps, spitting, being fussy when eating especially at night, and we changed formulas, hoping it would help her, we started with Similac, then Enfamil, then the Costco brand, than Good Start and she became like a different child with Good Start. I guess that formula was better for her. Ask your pediatrician if they think switching formulas would make a difference, but it made for us.

    Good luck with everything!

Good luck! I'm thinking reflux as well, I would call the Ped and explain what is going on and see what they think is the best option to try. Hope she feels better soon!

Nicolas had silent reflux. It was HORRIBLE! Gabe just had "regular" reflux and while that was bad- he was not in AS MUCH pain. Zantac helped.

Yeah sounds like reflux. Our Pedi said reflux gets bad from 2/3 -6 months. My girl used to have it very bad. And it stopped around 7.5 months. Talk to your Pedi. Med will help.
