My babies starting eating solids recently and I'm managing so far, I thought the 'two' bottle thing was hard...That was the easy part! How many of you shared spoons and bowls? I am a total 'germ phobe' and can't seem to do it with just one spoon/bowl for two of them, but am wondering what others did in our situations? I am afraid that they will pass germs to each other if they share, my husband says "they shared your womb, so what's the big deal if they share a spoon?" It is so hard to keep up with two hungry mouths, I have learned to feed with two hands but it is a challenge, and I hate having them on different schedules for feeding, I need my 'me time' when they nap, after they eat. Thanks for your input...

I never shared spoons or bowls with my two and still don't. I also try really hard to keep their cups separate, but they usually always take each others cups and run away with them. I guess you can only do so much.

I always used the same spoon and bowls it was easier that way.

I'll move this to the FY so you can hopefully get more advice!

I worry about germs in terms of keeping their toys clean, washing their exersaucers, sterilizing their bottles, etc. but when it comes to feeding I tend to think of them as having shared coodies! I figure if one gets sick the other is bound to - they suck on each other's hands sometimes and sneeze when they're only a few centimetres apart. When I was breastfeeding I didn't clean my nipples between feedings so I don't worry about sharing bottles, spoons, etc. I do one bowl, one spoon if I'm home alone with them. If I have a helper they each get their own (which they like because they don't have to wait for anyone!).

I use one bowl but two spoons only because they like to chew on them while I feed the other. I load one spoon up and put as much in one of their mouths as I can, then let them have at the spoon, then on to the next, and back and forth. When DH is around we each get our own baby, but if I'm alone that's what I do :) I also have some avocado usually and just pop a little bite of that in their mouth in between spoons or when I have a free hand. Mine still don't eat for very long or very much, but they are getting better! Hang in there and good luck! I wouldn't worry too much about the germs just because I think they pick up on that kind of stuff and I don't want my kids to be overly cautious when it comes to going out and getting dirty and having fun! Some amount of germs is a good thing! :) But that's just my 2 cents

  7. Hmm.. I use the same spoon and bowl for mine.... I guess I not as much of a germaphob as I thought!!

I use one bowl and one spoon. They also tend to drink each other's sippy cups etc by accident. Oh well. ;)

i too also use the same spoon and bowl. I try to keep them drinking out of their own sippy cups, but that doesn't always work either. And I figure they put they same toys in their mouths, so its like the same thing.

Mine eat out of the same bowl with the same spoon. My husband likes to use seperate bowls and spoons when he feeds them. My theory is, they suck on the same toys, sometimes get each others bottles or pacifiers, how is that any different?

They only time I have given them seperate bowls and spoons was when DS was sick.

I have always used 1 bowl and 1 spoon. Heck they suck on eachothers hands and feet, steal bottles and pacifiers so sharing a spoon is not that bad IMO. I have never been much of a germaphobe even since they were teeny-tiny and they have never gotten sick.

One bowl one spoon for now. I tried using 2, took way too long and the boys are messy as can be.

One bowl, one spoon, 2 cups (otherwise they'd 'fight' over the cup)

I remember when we started solids, I posted that feeding them was like a three ring circus. I tried two bowls/2 spoons. The replies I got were "ONE spoon, ONE bowl" Once I did that, it was so much easier. They share everything. I used to try so hard to keep their sippy cups separate that they have throughout the day but now I could care less who has whose!!! Good Luck!
