Okay, I'm not sure why Erin has these fears, however, she will start to cry even if she sees our dogs squeaky toy ball. I put up a porch swing the other day, thinking that it would be alot of fun for me and the girls to sit and swing on. Erin, totally freaks out and won't even get on. She will also scream and cry and pull me or Brooke, until we get off. I can't run the blender or she will hide, and she won't even get on a carousel ride.

We bought the girls a jumping castle for their birthday, and she won't even get close to it either.

Nothing traumatic has ever happened to her, I just wish I could understand where her fear is coming from.
Anyone else have these issues, and/or suggestions on how to overcome them?

Not to scare you, it might be "normal", but it's possible that she has a sensory problem. Sounds a bit like my Melissa. There have been several recent posts in the Health Issues forum you might want to check out. Worth considering.

However, I know that lots and lots of kids are sensitive to loud sounds at that age.

I never thought that she might have a "sensory issue." I just thought she was afraid of these things. She also won't walk over black tile in our house, she panics. She has consistently been like this. I also remember when she was a baby, coming down the stairs with her, she would startle. I will talk to their Dr. on Tuesday, and read up on it. I really didn't know that there could be a medical condition behind it! THANK YOU for the info!

My little Jack just started freaking out over big trucks! I am always pointing out the garbage trucks on garbage day and they always point to them and get excited- Now, yesterday, Jack was actually shaking and shrieking for all 3 trucks and again when they made the loop on the street below ours when he just heard them! My sitter said he did the same for the FedEx truck today!
Jack is also our guy who has had night terrors twice already- poor baby!
I think some kids are just more sensitive than others. Hope it is nothing more...
