Just curious what the future holds for my girls (who are 5 1/2 right now).

What are your girls into? Thanks!

Annie still loves High School Musicale. That obsession has been going on for 3 years now. She likes Littlest Pet Shop and taking pictures (DON'T get the Disney Micro Pix camera, not even worth the $5 she paid). Annie plays pretend with her sisters and stuffed animals and enjoys playing with the older neighbor girls, 10 and 13. (Small neighborhood. Limited immediate accessibility of friends. She likes to play school and enjoys the freedom of biking riding in our (small, very low traffic) street.

But if her sisters don't play like she wants them to, she folds her arms, stomps to the couch, and huffs, "Fine. Then I'm not playing anymore!" 6 going on 16!

But she can play well with them and alone, and I love having a big kid! Though it's my 3yo who will go downstairs alone, go figure.

My girls still play with their barbies and polly pockets. They play with littlest petshops at my mothers house but they don't play often with them at our house (we only have a few of them since they never got into them here). They really like playing with their brothers' trains (he has Thomas stuff, electronic and magnetic and a wooden train set). They still like to play dress up and play with their kitchen set in our basement and really enjoy playing school with all their dolls and stuffed animals. My girls are basically still playing with all the toys that they played with when they were about 3/4 with some additional pieces that have been added through the years. Oh and they like to ride their scooters, play with chalk on the drive way and play on the swingset.

Sarah likes most of what's been mentioned. I haven't let her start High School Musical or Hannah Montana yet. I figure that might happen this year because Sarah starts kindergarten on Monday and will be around more kids. She likes the American Girls books and we're getting her a used Kirsten doll for xmas. I'm getting it off ebay. I got a good deal on it because it was listed as a "Kristen" instead of "Kirsten". My mom loves sewing and making clothes, so my mom is making the doll clothes and Sarah some matching clothes. Sarah still loves to build with blocks and Tinkertoys. She loves her bike and dress-up and Barbies. Probably some of her most fun has come from a butterfly net that she uses to chase butterflies in the yard.

My girls love their stuffed animals and horses.

They play with the Littlest Petshop and My little ponies too.

This is a great age...but at the same time hard to buy for...because their interests have not changed up too much.

I think we are going to get them movies and music cd's for bday and christmas this year. They love thier cd player in their playroom. I got them a few oldies cd's, it is fun to hear them singing along.

Maddie loves Hannah Montana, Littlest Pet Shop, Barbies, stuffed animals, she just started playing with her Cabbage Patch baby that she got for Christmas last year. She does like Transformers too but is slowly moving away from it. She loves to read anything and will spend a lot of time doing that too. I think we are going to go to NY in the fall and take her to the American Girl store so she can pick out a doll that will be part of her Christmas present.

Webkinz and Ugly Dolls are a hit in our house. Kids are just over 7 1/2.

Mine like dollhouse and Barbies. I don't have Hannah Montana (and they don't watch it), and I'm not going to. Too much product placement for my taste. We don't have all that other Barbie stuff, either, we have the dolls and some outfits, like my sister and I had when we were kids. Great for imaginative play. Both of mine love all kinds of art supplies as well. They will be 7 in December. They do play with baby dolls and stuffed animals as well, and they are crazy for books. They like to build cabins with Lincoln Logs.

Nadia is exactly the same age as your twins, I think (1-28-04). What are your girls playing with these days?

My kiddo loves her doll house, Polly Pockets, any and all stuffed animals, Magna-Tiles, American Girl, and board games. She's really into Uno, Sorry!, and Horton Hears a Who right now (that last one is just painful).

She also likes building with basic unit blocks. And, although the Little People and the Snap n' Style dolls officially have been bequeathed to Kevan & Karina, she still plays with those.

We have a lot of cross-playing going on -- for example, she will build houses for her Polly Pockets out of Magna-Tiles, and then the Little People animals will be camping outside the house, etc. And, she'll build forts and bridges and stuff out of the blocks.

We don't have Barbie yet, and I suspect that will be the next big thing. In fact, my DH is making plans to build a whopping four-sided doll house that will fit Barbies -- probably a joint gift for all the kids. (I'd be shocked if he finished it by this Christmas, though.)

For Christmas, she is already lobbying for another American Girl doll, and Barbie...and a fishing pole. She has some weird obsession with fishing, which is funny because neither DH nor I can stand the sport.

ps -- High School Musical was a big favorite here until very recently. Now it's kind of subsided -- but, I haven't bought into all the merchandising. We just have the movies and the soundtracks. She knows about Hannah Montana from her friends, but we don't watch it.

(edited to fix split infinitive -- Ruby, that's for you, LOL)

My 6.5 yr. old likes Littlest Pet Shop, Barbies (sometimes), loves any kind of arts and crafts, Polly Pockets. She also really likes her Nintendo DS. She also plays with her brother's hot wheels, Imgaginext toys, Webkinz, and lots and lots of pretend play. She really wanted an easy bake oven last Christmas and has used it once. Same thing with Light Bright, maybe played with it 3 or 4 x's.

We just got a glow in the dark doodle board and it was a HUGE hit. K-Mart has them on sale in my area on 11-12 to 11-3 for $10.

I just realized that my reply never shows up in this post! Ooops!

Well, looks like my girls are into the same things as everyone else. Barbie and Littlest Pet Shop, American Girl are the favorites right now. Sadly enough, they aren't really into playing with babty dolls or their play kitchen anymore. They don't even play dress up anyomore. Maya claims she "outgrew" those toys!

Horses and dancing are big right now. It looks like it's going to be a Barbie Christmas. It's ALL they talk about!

My 6 year old and my 7 year old twins all love My Little Pony. They have gotten many of the sets over the last couple Christmases and birthdays. They can spend hours playing. They also love to play outside and just make up games with anything they can find. All 5 of my kids have this weird obsession with Star Trek right now, and they have some of the toys. They love crafts, taking pictures, playing board games, and BOOKS!!! They love to read! They enjoy coloring, dressing up and wearing tons of jewellry, Cars, computer games.

Mine just love dressing up and playing rock star. It is funny if I bust them singing in their room, they freak out and shut the door in my face. They also play pretend school they will be getting this for the holidays. http://www.toystogrowon.com/sku658

My 7 year olds favorite things are Littlest Pet shop, Webkinz, Ipod shuffles, art/craft kits, board/card games and books. They really liked my niece's Nintendo DS and one of them has asked for one for Christmas but I'm not getting her one. They are too expensive and last year we bought them a Wii that rarely gets used. My girls absolute favorite thing to do though is to play outside and ride their bikes, but this time of the year with our weather they are pretty much stuck inside so we have been playing a lot of board/card games and I plan to get them quite a few more of those for Christmas.
