    Hey there ladies,

Do you remember any favorite dinners that you received from friends in the early days? I remember getting a lot of lasagne :)

I have a male coworker that recently had a little one...their family has since left so I offered to make them dinner this week.

They said they will eat most anything, but she does limit the amount of spicy foods since she is nursing. I remember avoiding all things dairy...that stumped a lot of people trying to bring us dinners!!

So...any good ideas? What were your favorites that weren't too spicy??

I remember people bringing us lots of casseroles and having things like chicken pot pies. We also had some lasagna and spagetti type meals. My favorite was the homeade mac and cheese (but that one is hard if someone is avoiding dairy!) and the meatloaf. I LOVED the meatloaf :)

I made chicken pot pie one time for a new mom and dad. Maybe a big pot of soup or stew.

i second the stew! such a yummy comfort food.

we also got the standard casseroles & pastas.

honestly though, my absolute favorite was when my MIL came & cooked something at our house so that it was hot, fresh & delicious. then she would watch the girls while we ate. that always felt so luxurious! funny how your priorities change when you have a newborn...

oh the lasagna!! I had never tasted anything soooo good! DH and I would race each other to the fridge at 2am for the last pieces! aahhh the days! haha

My sister also sent us a sandwich "meal" from Zimmermans...that was heavenly because it came with all the fixings...including a delicous brownie! My MIL made us hamburgers at midnight one time...those were yummy...not sure why but food tasted so good late at night! your doing a great thing!

Just had to share because it's soo yummy. It does have sour cream but it's a really good comfort food and even better served the next day. Here's the recipe:

2 cups (16 oz) sour cream
1 can (10 3/4 oz) cream of chicken soup, uncondensed, undiluted
2 1/2 cups cubed cooked chicken
    1 3/4 cups butter-flavored cracker crumbs (about 36 crackers) - I use Ritz
    1/2 cup butter, melted

In a bowl, combine the sour cream and soup. Stir in cooked chicken. Pour into greased 11x7x2 inch baking dish. Combine the cracker crumbs and butter; sprinkle over top. Bake, uncovered, at 350 for 25-30 or until heated through. 4 Servings.

I made this dish along side some plain boiled potatoes as it is a little rich. The potatoes are fantastic with the "sauce" mixture. Super easy and really a great dish! Hope whoever tries this enjoys!!! :D

Make a frittata. So yummy and you can tailor it to your friends' tastes or diet.

My SIL made us beef stew, enough for two days. It was delicious :good:
My cousin brought us over cold cuts and bread for sandwiches as well. I think whatever you make would be appreciated by the family, it's a very kind thing you are doing :clapping:

A few friends brought me huge salads, which I loved, as I was trying to eat healthy but didn't have the energy to go shopping for produce and then clean and chop it all up.
