The cut for boy's jeans & girl's jeans is so different!! I'm looking for just basic jeans - no embroidery or flowers, etc - that move well. Seems like her last pair were a little tight in the thigh (still crawling, so the jeans looked uncomfortable that way).

I haven't tried many, but we've had 2 pairs of Old Navy jeans that I liked, sort of. Of course, the cut is probably different for every style... The first ones we bought looked nice and the length was good, but they were too tight in the tummy (and my girls are average for weight). The next pair was good all around. Amy will be very sad to outgrow them.

That pair is meant for girls, but normally I buy jeans (and basic khakis, etc.) for my girls from the boys racks. I hate the embroidery and flowers too -- I just want plain, and that always means boys.

The last jeans I bought for Paige were size 18 months and they are Levi's. I got them at Target and I love them because they have the adjustable waist.

My girls have a bunch of jeans from Steve and Barry's. I think they were $5. The sizes 3t have adjustable weight while the 2t does not.

I like the Children's Place jeans a lot and Gap is my favorite even though I only buy the Gap ones on sale. I hate spending $60 for two pairs of jeans.

I've also had good luck with Mossimo jeans at Target.

I had the same problem as you did too. I decided to give up the jeans and have her wear play wear pants when she first started crawling. Even now I still can't get her comfortable around her butt and thigh. But I had no problem with my son, Justin. He is skinny all over and his jeans fall right off on the waist. They both wear Oshkosh (Carson Pirie Scott) play wear clothes.

From about 12-18 months, my kids were short with chubby bellies and thighs, and the only jeans that fit them right were the cheapo jeans from Walmart. The TCP jeans were too narrow and long in the legs on Ally, and just plain too long on Jack.

I rarely put them in jeans anyway. They always looked so uncomfortable in them. I usually bought wind pants from TCP for Jack, and there were so many cute swing tops/leggings outfits for Ally.

Another fan of Children's Place. They hold up so well and they have the adjustable waist. And they are very reasonable in price.

My favorites for Katelyn are Old Navy, Children's Place and Mervyn's Sprocket brand.

I got some from The Children's Place that had an elastic waist, it kind of felt like sweatpant material, and adjustable cuffs on the bottom. Those are the only ones that fit right. For the most part, I stick with knit pants and leggings. My girls are tall, but have long torsos and short legs. Pants like khakis, jeans, or cords are always too long and/or not comfortable in the waist. Knit pants and leggings are much more forgiving.

Old Navy, Old Navy, Old Navy!!!! I LOVE 'em!!! All my girls wear them and I don't ever look anywhere else. I think they are priced well (they seem to be on sale frequently too) and I find that they wash well also.

Another vote for Children's Place. I also like the sprockets brand but we don't live by a Mervyn's anymore :(

I am a big fan right now a Sonoma brand jeans from Kohl's for my toddler. These seem to fit her the best and they are inexpensive which is always a plus. She had another pair recently that looked just as uncomfortable as what you are describing!

The jeans at Kohl's are super plain and fit her perfect! I looked on their website and dont' see them there. I got hers at the store.

Well, I'll be the stinker here and say that I really don't like the jeans, or really any of the girls pants from Old Navy. The cut just doen't seem right. It is like they are cut like mine would be cut, flare leg with a trim cut through the thighs...what 18 month old needs boot cut jeans?!! Of course, my DD is short and chubby, so those types of cuts just don't do a thing for her. She really needs like a 24 month waist and a 12 month length. It's a shame though, because their clothes are really cute and affordable. They have the best clearance rack!!

That being said, I think I will have to check out the Children's place jeans that everyone has raved about.

We use the Children's Place as well. I have also received many hand me downs from various brands from Nordstroms. They seem to work well (and I think can be quite reasonable if on sale), but I don't think they are any better than the ones from the Children's Place.

its funny because Abby is the complete opposite - she needs 18-24 length and 12 mo waist she's so skinny and the Old Navy skinny jeans are great!

Didn't like Old Navy ... at least not for my chubby kids / babies. The waists are too low, it just doesn't work. I have better luck with Gap and OshKosh.
