DS is finally getting interested in books!! :) DD would want me to read to her all day, so for our upcoming plane trip I thought some new books to read would be nice. Right now we're still in the board-book phase. :) And we love, love, love Santra Boyton! Any other favorites for this age??

Ours really like the baby einstein look and find board books. They are packed in the back pack for our plane ride from GA to CA tomorrow. I know you didn't ask, but we have also packed some travel magna doodles, wooden puzzles and crayons and coloring books for the plane ride.

    Hug
    Good Night Gorilla
    Rainbow Rob
The Colors Book (or any book that shows a bunch of objects, like The Word Book)
    anything by Eric Carle

These are all board books, but I started getting hardback books with paper pages a few months ago and was surprised that my girls were so gentle with them. They love reading big kid books, so treat them reverently! It might be worth trying with your kids since they'd be a lot lighter and less bulky in carry-ons than board books.

The fave paper books at the moment:

Way Up High in a Big Tall Tree
Way Far Away on a Wild Safari
Peekaboo Baby (or any book with pictures of babies/kids)
Song of the Flowers (it's way above their age level, but they LOVE it and can correctly identify many flowers because of this book)

My girls are also wild about Elmo and Clifford, so any of those books are hits.

My girls LOVE books. We have so many it's crazy (many thankfully purchased used). All board books.

    I know a Rhino
Sometimes I like to curl up in a ball
    Hush little ones
Can you cuddle like a Koala
    Gossie and Gertie
    Time for Bed
Brown Bear what do you see, Polar Bear what do you hear (or viceversa)
Many of the usborne books. They have a huge catalog. My kids LOVE to look for things that appear on every page. Like almost every page of Goodnight Moon has a tiny mouse (hunt for it, it's not simple). But usborne has many books like this wear you search for a mouse, duck, etc. It makes reading more fun. I also ask them other questions, what color is that bucket? what does the cow say? let's count the ducks, etc, etc. More than just reading the text makes it more interactive and really helps build their vocabulary.

BTW if you love Boyton, check out her book/cd Philadelphia Chickens. The songs are great! (put it's not a board book)
