Does anyone have any good ideas for a first Father's Day gift idea? My DH has been so awesome and the best Dad and I really want to do something special. It also works out that his birthday is two days before Father's Day so there's more pressure to do something great.

Anyway, I would love your thoughts and ideas!

Since it is my husband's first fathers day I am going a little overboard.

We live in the Philadelphia area and he loves to play (and watch) golf. So I bought him a day pass to the Tiger Woods golf tournament that is being held here. He really wants to go and this ticket gets him in, lunch, parking and access to the press box. I think he will love it. That is from the boys.

Then I have a surprise weekend planned! We are going to go to a waterpark with the boys. They love the water and he hasn't really had a chance to see them play in a pool so I thought that would be fun. Then we will stay overnight and where we are staying there is a big park with tons of nature trails. He shoots landscape photography as a side job and I thought it would be fun for him to go walking the next day to try to get some shots!

He is really hard to buy for and we don't get alot of quality time as a family because we both work so much...so I thought planning a trip based around the things he really loves to do would be the best thing!

I don't remember what I got DH for his first Father's Day  but I did take him out to dinner at his favorite place. Some other gifts that he's liked is I ordered him framed poem about being a Dad of Twins ( I cannot find the website I got the poem from), tickets to a Phillies game (he loves the Phils), his favorite movies on DVD, a digital photo frame, a day with the family, letting him pick out a Star wars figurine he doesn't have (I don't know the difference, so he usually has to pick it out)...I just try to tailor it to things that he likes and enjoys.

My dh is kinda sappy, so his fav gift is one of those hand print shirts you can buy at walmart, where the shirt says a phrase like "#1 dad" and it comes with paint, so you paint your kids hands and they put them on the shirt. I did that with my oldest ds on father's day one year, I'm planning to do one this year with all 4 kids, but make my own, with fabric paints and a white cotton t-shirt.

Our twins are 6 weeks 2 days today and we aren't getting out much. So, I am getting him a subscription to MLB.com so he can watch the Yankees games (and other MLB games) on the computer. The best part is the games are archived so, although we will probably miss the game, he can watch it later. Also, if he helps you a lot during the night, a night nanny is a gift for him too because it is the gift of sleep!

My DH's birthday is two days after Father's Day this year. And he turns 30, so it's a biggie. I have no idea what to get him this year -- but he did love his gift last year. I planned a day out at the ballpark, as DH is a huge baseball fan. We went to watch the Mariner's play, which was the first time we took our son to a game. I got awesome pictures of the two of them together, with DH enjoying our son's looks of amazement.

Our son was older (15 months) but maybe that will help spark your creativity. :)

My DH is also very hard to buy for, and I know that the first year with twins we didn't get out much. So, I gave him a weekend to have free time and not feel guilty about it (depending on what your dh may like to do). Mine also loves golf. So, I called a couple of his friends (one was out of state so I had to make sure he could travel here) and had them set up a couple of golf games at his favorite courses and he got to hang out with his friends and play golf all weekend. He LOVED it!

My DH is really quite green. He wanted THIS. It uses solar power to power iPods and such. I think we will also go out to a state park that weekend and blow the dust off us all.

Great ideas! Thanks so much. My DH loves golf and baseball actually (a day pass to the Tiger Woods golf event would be *right* up his alley!!) and he gave up his baseball season tickets this year because of the twins. So maybe getting him some nice seats to a game to go with a friend (or me, if we can get a sitter) is a great idea. Why didn't I think of that? :)
    You guys are the best!

We're not doing anything over the top. I got a photo mug done up through Vista Printing. They had an awesome deal where it was only $1.99 plus shipping. I'm not sure what else I'll do. He's not into sports all that much, but loves reading, so maybe a gift cert. to buy some new books. We might get him a digital picture frame for his office as well. He doesn't have any pictures up in it yet (new job started in Oct.). Other than that, I'm at a loss.

I'm going to try to take pictures of each child individually holding up the letters D - A - D and put it in a three opening frame. At least, that's the plan. Haven't actually purchased the letters yet.... ;)

    Hi,

My DH has a few matching father - son T-shirts. My favorites are on this site (he's English so it is somewhat fitting)..

    http://twistedtwee.co.uk/pint--half-pint-c-166.html

Also, there are a lot of sites that have the Big Guy - Little Guy t-shirts that are so cute. We have 3 sons so it works.

I'm thinking about framing hand and foot prints along with a poem. The D-A-D idea is great too!
