    Hi Ladies,

I havent posted in a while since we had to move the office to set up the babies room. Anyway.

On Friday November 10th I began to lose my mucous plug and the contractions I had been having for several weeks started to get stronger and more painful but after so many false alarms I figured I would wait and see what happened. Well all day Saturday I still felt the same way except worse. So I told DH that I thought it was really time to go and have babies. I took a shower and got ready to go and we got to the hospital around 8pm they checked my cervix and it was dialated between 3-4cm which was the same as it had been for the past week. They decided to keep me and check again in an hour to see if it had changed. Well an hour later they checked again and I was 5cm I had planned on having a drug free delivery but the pain from the contractions had gotten sooooo bad I decided that I really needed something for the pain and an epidural was my only option. So they started the epidural and broke baby A's water. After staring the epidural I couldnt feel anything and they monitor was barely showing any contractions so they planned on having to give me pitocin to strengthen my contractions. When they came in to check me again I was already 9cm which shocked everyone as I was barely contracting.
Around 5am I started to push but was unable to push properly so they turned they epidural down or so they said. I actually found out after the birth that they had turned the epidural off completely No wonder I felt EVERYTHING. Baby A Faith Rose was born at 7:54am on November 12th weighing 5lbs 11oz and 18.5 inches after pushing for nearly 3 hours. Baby B Thomas Felix was born 21 minutes later at 8:15am Weighing 5lbs 2oz and 18.5 inches. They had to use the vacuum to help Thomas out because his heartrate had started to drop but other that a bruise on his head he came out perfect.

All three of us came home together on Tuesday November 14th and we are doing well. I planned on breastfeeding but due to latching issues I have decided to pump my milk and bottle feed it to them.

I guess things dont always happen the way you planned but all is well now and they most important thing is that I have two perfectly healthy little babies to show for it.

BTW: I was 37weeks 1day when they arrived much longer that the doctors thought I would make it due to my Pre-term labor scares a few weeks back.

Congratulations!! What a great birth story, and it sounds like they are wonderfully healthy. Everyone kept telling be to expect the unexpected when it comes to giving birth, and I guess it didn't really sink in until it all happened (not exactly the way I imagined). The end result though sounds like healthy babies and mom--so great that you made it to 37 weeks!

Congratulations! You are soo right about how some things don't go as planned all the time but your end result sounds just perfect!

Sometimes I think some aspects of modern technology are a little tooo good picking up things as preterm labor. We get restrictions put on us, understandably so, and then soo many carry to term anyway it makes one wonder what would have happened if technology wasn't what it is today KWIM? I would never want anything less and I don't regret a moment I spent on bedrest for the sake of healthy little ones but it is something to ponder in my opinion.

    Enjoy your new additions!

Wow good for you all!!! Sounds exciting to hear about a fairly "normal" birth with twins.

I pumped with my little singleton for 6 months. Not to push at all but if you want to try to get a handle on the nursing/latch thing. Talk to your LC's and see if you can keep offering a bit and really get back into it when they are due and a few weeks after. I gave up too soon with my little boy. I was extreemly stressed and they sent him home when he was still 5 weeks from being due. If I knew then what I know now, I'd have given it a rest and tried again more when he was due! It worked out great- he was healthy and growing and I had plenty of milk but I missed the whole nursing experience. Up to you but if it's something you want to try again, don't be afraid to give it some time and then try again. It may or may not work. Or, if you are like me, too stressed to add this to your plate, just pump away and be happy!!!!

Congrats to you and your wonderful babies!!!!
