hi i have fainted twice today and once a couple of weeks back...
i was standing at the fruit stall and all of a sudden felt really wobbly and dizzy the next thing i am on the ground
    embarraced- yes
    worried -very!

i called midwife who said to lie down and relax and if it happens again to call back so i go home and do as she says
then i get up for toilet and it happens again!!
so i called back and she says i probs got up too fast and to lay down again!

i am now laying in bed with my laptop lol

    has anyone else experienced this??

    is it normal??

I went through that for a few weeks back in my second trimester - happened at the dentist. My doctor said it was from the weight of twins and that it cuts off circulations. She recommeneded drinking LOTS of water (Especially when you wake up in the morning) and to constantly be switching positions to help blood flow. Once I got in my third trimester it went away except for ultrasounds when I am laying on my back.

    Hope things get better!

I faint every time I throw up… so for the first 17 weeks of this pregnancy someone had to come to the bathroom with me otherwise I would hit my head on something (nothing like waking up from throwing up with your hair in vomit toilet...Or during my singleton pregnancy, I had a black eye for my sister’s wedding as I had fainted and landed on a wooden heal of one of my shoes... walking down the isle pregnant with a black eye…classy)… it got really bad at the end… my poor DH was scared… I would faint in the middle of throwing up and lock my mouth shut… he thought I would choke on it… he then would try to pry my mouth open (I know that’s love :bad: ) but I wouldn’t open… so he would just lean me forward so it came out my noise… and then the convolutions started… just thinking about it now gives me the he be je be’s

My Dr was more concerned about dehydration then my fainting…. But I would mention it

Wow, I've never fainted, so that would freak me out. But I think it's fairly common.
Elizabeth, that sounds so scary! I've never heard of that -- is there a medical reason? None of my beeswax, just curiosity...

I don’t remember exactly what it’s called, I had it happen the first time when I was about 19 (I had a stomach flu) I think it’s something like Vega Nerve syndrome…

But let me tell you I NEVER drink too much as a result…

I think it is Vaso-Vagal Nerve episode - basically blood pressure plummets so not enough blood to the brain and down you go.

    Definitely stay really well hydrated!!!

I never actually fainted, but sure felt like it on several occasions! while morning sickness was a factor and then towards the end when they made me lay down for ultrasounds I would start feeling all hot and fainty! I had to request to have my ultrasounds sitting up!
