    Hi there,
I'm 27 weeks pregnant with twin girls (fraternal I think, but not sure). I just found out I didn't pass my glucose screening and now I have to go for the 3 hour one. I'm thinking it might be fairly common? Hopefully I won't have gestational diabetes. I go on Monday for the long test. How is it?

I too failed my 1 hr glucose test, by a big 6 points. I was annoyed! However, I went in expecting to fail. My ob said I was at high risk for having GD(PCOS, twins, etc).

I went for the 3 hour test, and it wasn't all that bad. We had nice recliner chairs, individual TV's...it was quiet! It just stunk getting poked four times! Yuck!

As for that test-I passed it! My ob was SHOCKED! So-you just never know. I just wouldn't eat carbs after a certain time the night before. I think before I went for the 3 hr test, I took a spoonful of peanut butter. Who knows if that helped or not!

    Good luck!

I failed my 1hr test when I took it, but passed my 3hr test. I was in the hospital on bedrest when I took my 3hr test so I don't remember exactly how long it took. I know they came in and made me drink an awful concoction and then came in every hour to draw my blood after that. Good Luck!

I have failed the 1 hr three times, once with my ds and twice with my dd. I am at high risk of GD so they usually check me twice. However I passed all 3 3 hr tests, much to my ob's surprise with my dd!

I'm planning to go straight to the 3 hr one this time, since I'm pretty much gauranteed to fail the 1 hr with twins this time!

I two failed my first one but passed the second time around. I felt like crap during the whole thing but I passed so that was the good thing.

    Good Luck!!

I also failed my 1 hour and passed my 3 hour!  :yahoo:

How was it? The drink was nasty, the wait was long and the needles were plenty! I chugged the drink down as fast as I could, it tastes gross, so the faster the better.

Good luck with your test! :clapping:

Im going in for my 1 hr this week. Im scared.. Just cause with my daughter my 1hr came back high and I remember doing the 3hr and that made me sick! I felt soooo dizzy after the 2nd hour. I just had to eat something. But the 3hr came back ok!

I hope this time around my 1hr comes back Normal.

I hope everything goes good for you! Dont worry!!! ;)

I failed the one-hour test with our third baby, but passed the 3-hour test. The 3-hour one was really boring for me. The waiting room was nice, but didn't have a TV or anything like that. So unless you know yours will have that, bring something to do for sure. The drink was gross, but they gave me flavor choices and I was able to get it down OK. Good luck! I'm sure you'll get through it just fine.

I went for my 3 hour test and passed. Yeah! However I keep spilling A LOT of sugar in my urine at every appt. So now I have to check my blood sugar every day 5x per day!! So far my results have been: 81, 92, 72, 141, and 65. I'm supposed to report back to OB next week and then if all seems ok, I can stop checking. Anybody else have to check this even though they passed the 3 hour test? Anybody here with Gest. Diabetes that could shed some light on it for me?

I also failed my one hour last week and will take the 3 hour on Tuesday 1/13. I wasn't surprised I failed the one hour as I was shaking from the sugary drink still when they drew my blood. I also have PCOS and my RE was totally shocked I didn't have GD with my first pregnancy. I failed my one hour back then but passed my three hour with dd. At any rate, I am not expecting to pass my three hour since I felt so crummy from the one hour test but I will be crossing my fingers. I did a little research about GD online and I guess about 30% of women pass the three hour test after failing the one hour so your chances are still good that you will pass. Also with the other posters, the majority passes the three hour.

Good luck! I will post my results next week...

So did you pass the 3 hour ? I failed my 1 hour Yesterday so Tomorrow ( Valentine's Day ) I get to go have my 3 hour . I will let everyone know how it turns out . BTW the lady I talked with about it said my results were slightly elevated and I had eaten approx. 3 hours prior to the 1 hour test .
Hopefully everything will work out .

I barely failed the 1st test w/ 1st pregnancy. No one mentioned what I should/shouldn't eat before the test and I had cereal and a big ol' banana that morning...not really a good choice. Load up on protein not carbs pre-test.

The 3 hr wasn't that bad - just boring. No TVs in our lab. The drink tasted like concentrated Tang. Don't sip it - slam it. And make sure you bring a snack to eat right away when you're done. I was so lightheaded after the test that I didn't think I was going to make it to the hosp cafeteria and it took about an hour before I felt comfortable enough to drive. My blood sugar really nosedived in that last hr.

My results came back borderline for this test too. My OB sent me to a dietician for a consult. No further testing and all was well w/ the remainder of my pregnancy. I really think preventative medicine works great in this case, meaning eating a clean diet low in sugars and white flours. Easier said than done, though, esp when the cravings set in!

Good luck!! I suspect that my 1st test will be coming up soon and I'm keeping my fingers crossed, even though I've already been tagged w/ the GD label.

I took the 3 hour on Valentine's day , It was so Romantic LOL . My Husband went with me and he actually enjoyed laying around the waiting room . It wasn't that bad for me either , I got to catch up with some of the local Tahoe papers . Any way after the second blood sample the tech gave me my original number which was 186  I think that is really high . He said that the first 2 draws were lower than the 186 . That is good because they made me drink 2 bottles of the Orange soda during the 3 hour test where as they only made me drink one the first time.

I passed the 3 hour test . I guess you shouldn't eat before the 1 hour test either . My 1 hour score was 186 which is very high . I was surprised I passed the 3 hour , I am still going to watch what I eat the 186 scares me a little .
