I bought the EZ to nurse twin pillow and I cannot figure out how to use it! The sides go so far back that I can't lean back on the couch comfortably. I like to sit indian style on the couch to nurse the boys and the pillow seems to big that I have a huge gap at the stomach.

    any suggestions?

I have had the same issues and have used my Boppy instead. I'd love to know how to use the EZ2 Nurse Pillow as so many people love it - I want to know what I'm missing...

I would say about 95% of people who use that pillow just love it. There are some people who it just doesn't work for. Here is a scrapbooking page I made which kind of shows how I use it. EZ 2 nurse pillow. Sitting crossed legged on the couch probably would not work with the pillow.

I would take the little insert from the center (where your body gets strapped in) and put it behind my back and then sit leaning against the little pillow and a twin on each side............just like Jackie's bottom photo.

I never used the insert it came with - I use two couch throw pillows behind my back, and cinch up the strap so there's no gap.

I used the "insert" pillow at my lower back and usually another bed pillow lengthwise above it, but I did not love the EZ in the first couple of months. As they get to nurse quicker, that back support isn't as important - you'll be able to lean forward comfortably for the time it takes them to nurse.

I got my ez 2 nurse pillow from a fellow twin mom and mine didn't come with the back support pillow.

So when I sit on the couch I grab one of the throw pillows and put it behind my back after I strap myself in. The throw pillow is about the same width as the opening in the back so I can push the ez 2 nurse closer to my body and still get the back support. And the throw pillow gives me more space to push the pillow back towards the couch.

Maybe the built in pillow doesn't allow you to do this? In the beginning I think I would stuff a receiving blanket in the gap until I figured out how to adjust it better. I also make sure the back strap is really tight around my waist. If I don't strap in it doesn't work.

I actually even lean back when using mine, which I find fills in the gap as well. I will sit indian style as well. My hubby laughs because I even end up falling asleep sitting up while using this. I just prop another pillow behind my head and close my eyes. Word of warning...don't fall asleep while sitting indian style....your legs will fall asleep! ;)

It also helps when you have something to prop your feet up on. I pull our ottoman right up to me prop my legs up and use my knees to put the pillow at an angle. And then I'll put a boppy over my knees ( straddling my legs) and prop the laptop on the edge of the pillow and boppy. And then I can even type with both hands. Its fabulous! I don't feel so imprisoned in the pillow with something to do!

I'll try and get some pics up to show it better. Let me know if this makes no sense!! But if you can get comfy with the pillow it really is fabulous. The boppy just never gives me enough support, but I do use it for my 3am feeding because I don't feel like lugging the big pillow in bed with me. That won't last much longer because the babies are already falling off while I tandem with them.

I didn't love the pillow at first either. It felt like I spent more time getting situated than I did nursing....but that changed drastically as the babies got older. As they got bigger I found I didn't need extra pillows at all. I sat cross-legged on the couch and it worked great. Keep working with it and in a few months it will be so easy to just sit down and feed those babies in no time!

I just ordered the medela nursing stool off target.com & hope this helps that same complaint I have with the EZ2 nurse pillow. I have tried tandem nursing w/ the boppy though & it sucks, so I can't imagine not using the EZ2 nurse pillow at all.

Oooo, will you put up a picture of you using the boppy for computer usage. I'm getting so sick of typing with one hand using my laptop on the couch right next to me and I'm worried that I am going to drop the laptop on the babies heads if I use it on the edge of the EZ2 nurse pillow.

I just wanted to second this--After about 3 or 4 weeks I gave up tandem nursing and only did it when absolutely necessary. I nursed seperately as much as possible. As they got bigger and stronger (maybe 6-8 months?) I was able to go back to the EZ 2 Nurse and it worked a lot better.

I agree that having someting behind your back makes a big difference in getting the whole thing to work and not leaving a gap between your belly and the inside curve of the pillow.

Oh, I tandem nursed on my bed so that I could lay a baby down easily

I needed 2-3 pillows behind my back when they were real little, then only needed the back support that came with it.

Just like pp's said, when they were really tiny I used pillows vertically behind my back plus the EZ2 nurse tightly strapped plus a rolled up towel in the remaining gap around my waist. I sat either indian style or with my legs straight out with thin pillow between the EZ2 nurse and my knees. I usually sit on a mattress on the floor - just because we don't have a sofa.

Although it sounds a bit of an effort it really took no time to get comfortable. In fact, bar the rolled up towel, we're still BFing the same way 2 years later.
