EZ-2-Nurse pillow/nursing question

I been told by many mothers of twins that the EZ-2-Nurse pillow is a must have for nursing twins? Does it really work? Do you just use it at home and/or when you are out? Do the twins always nurse together or seperately?

I bf DS for 8 months and we never used pillow or anything. But I am concern about nursing for two. With DS I went back to work after 8 weeks leave and I pumped at work for the 6 months. Any insight will be helpful. Thank you[IMG]

I bf my DS for 9 months, and I almost had to have the boppy all the time. By the time I'd been BFing the twins for a couple of months, it was amazing how easy it was to bf one baby, anywhere, anytime, with nothing but me and them!! I felt silly for always needing the boppy with one baby!

All that said, I loved the EZ 2 nurse, especially in the beginning, when they have little head control. In answer to your question, it worked great. I liked to be able to let go, let them relax, and have an extra hand to move them around or relatch them or whatever. Later, I probably used the EZ 2 nurse 60 - 70% of the time. So, I would tandem breastfeed without it, but usually only because I forgot it, or it was more convenient, or I couldn't fit it in the backseat of the car with me and the babies. We didn't go out much early on, but when I went to my parents' house or something, I almost always had the pillow with me, because it did make it much easier.

I know some women don't tandem (both at the same time) with twins - they space out BFing, so they end up BFing one, handing him/her off, then going to the next. In that case, of course you'd be fine without it. It was easier for me to usually tandem so that I wasn't trying to remember two feeding schedules, and to free myself up a bit to do something else, like sleep or take a shower.

So I don't think it's *necessary* for every mom BFing twins, but for me it was a lifesaver!

ETA: I re-read your post and I didn't really answer your questions exactly, but I did try to share my experience. Hope it helps!!

I only tandem nurse at night I wouldn't be able to do it without my EZ-2-nurse pillow I love it!! I nurse one at a time with a regular boppy during the day. I don't tandem nurse out in public I would feel to exposed it's a lot harder to cover when I have both girls on the boob lol

My twins are 14 months old and I have used my EZ-2 Nurse Pillow from very early on. I am completely convinced that it helped me to be able to breastfeed them. I could never get a boppy to work and pillow just don't work either.
I use my pillow when I tandem or when I feed them individually. It is just nice because you don't have to constantly readjust or worry about them slipping off.
I would definitely recommend to all new moms.
    Good luck!

I've had trouble with the EZ 2 Nurse because of my height; I am 5'9". It seems like it doesn't work as well for those of us with long torsos. I am still using a boppy with my twins at 5 months; I just put other couch pillows under each side and it seems to work. They are getting pretty big, though. I don't know what I am going to do when they outgrow the boppy entirely. May have to find a way to use the EZ 2Nurse.

I couldn't have tandem nursed without the EZ2Nurse. It is a real lifesaver. About your question about nursing in public - it would be really impractical to take the pillow, so when necessary I just nursed them individually.

I'm also tall (5'10"), and have to bend over a bit. One thing that helps is to put another pillow underneath the nursing pillow to give it a boost.

I loved my foam EZ2Nurse pillow. A must have in my opinion.

I adore my ez 2 nurse pillows. Yes, I said pillows. I got the first 1 at a twins sale when I was pregnant. It was essential when they were tiny. I would get so upset if I was out and forgot it that at 5 months I bought a second pillow for the car. I'm 5'9.5" and did have to find a way to get comfy, but once I did, I nursed them tandem wherever/whenever.

Now that they mess with my shirt & don't nurse every 2 hrs., I don't do it out as often.

    Buy it!

I'd say buy it too! in the beginning I was on the couch with that EZ2Nurse pillow so much! the babies would just fall asleep after nursing and we'd all just sit there! one other thing... that no one mentioned was that once you have both babies latched... you are HANDSFREE with the pillow... i.e. internet surfing! ok, so that's not really a bonding moment, but its a great way to keep your momma sanity around.

as for the long torso, I'm there too... in the beginning I'd try to put a flattish pillow underneath the nursing pillow so that it would raise it up. Now that the babies only nurse for 7-10 minutes I just lean forward so that they'll be able to latch... i do try to lean forward with a straight back and not a rounded one... not the best, but it works for us.

in public... nursing was mainly just one baby at a time, but when I went to my local lactation weekly meeting, I would take the big pillow and just tandem there w/the nursing cover. I'd also take the pillow to people's houses if we were going there... but otherwise just one on one.

onlhy recently have I started doing the babies one on one... well after they were 18 mo. I only do that b/c my dd wants her own mommy time... and she'll just leave and then come back when my ds is done. otherwise I try to tandem still and still like the EZ2nurse pillow when I nurse in our play area where I keep the pillow.

I love the EZ2 nurse pillow. As others have said, it's very useful in the beginning. I don't think I'd have been able to tandem feed without it.

If you are going to tandem nurse, it is a must. I waited to get mine until my babies were about 5 months old. Tandem nursing did not work well for us in the beginning.

Thank you so much for the insight. I went ahead and brought me one yesterday from a lady on Craigslist for 15 dollars.

I never could get the hang of tandem nursing so I just nurse one baby then go to the next so the EZ 2 Nurse pillow isn't something I have really used (too bad since I have two of them, but they were both given to me for free so I guess it worked out okay). Thankfully I was blessed with two very efficient nurslings and I am usually done nursing both of them in under 20 minutes total. Definitely look on Craigslist or contact a multiples club in your area and see if you can find one used that way if it doesn't end up working out for you, you haven't spent a ton of money.
