Both of my boys have an eye infection. It started with one and spread to the other and their 3 year old sister. They have had it once or twice since they were born but my doctor did not give me medicine. She said to just put breastmilk a few times a day. It does work and it did go away but this time the eye is a little puffier and redder.

Just wondering if anyone used medication. My 3 year old got Vigomox for her eye infection but it is not used on infants a year and younger.

I use Polysporin Eye and Ear Drops. You can get them at any drug store. All 3 of my kids seem to be prone to eye infections when they get colds. One drop in the affected eye 3 times a day until it's clear. I always clean the eye first before I put the drops in. I've used it with my girls and my son and haven't had any issues...the girls were a month old the first time I used it (got the OK from their doctor first obviously :)) so it's safe to use with infants.

A very good friend of mine said to put drops of breastmilk in their eyes (kinda sounds gross to some people), but I did it and it worked for pink eye on my girls!!!!! So much better than meds. Are you still nursing?

Breastmilk works the best. When I was like 5 or 6 something, my neighbor dropped her BM in my eyes. The discomfort was released constantly I still remember.

    Thanks for the replies.

I guess I did know that breastmilk was the best thing. Yes, I'm still breastfeeding so I'll continue to use that.
