    Hi!

I'm starting my 24 weeks with fratneral boys and I'm overwhelmed with exhaustion. I realize that at some point that I woldn't be able to keep up the same pace, but even the simpliest things like small food shopping or getting ready for work in the morning seem to knock me out to the point that I need to rest. It almost feels like every muscle gets fatigued so quickly.

Is this normal or is something else going on?

    Thanks

I have been going through this for several weeks now as well. A small trip to do errands was enough to wipe me right out...that's if I could get enough energy to even get out of the house some days!

I have found that eating more protein has helped a little. For example instead of eating cereal, milk, and blueberries in the morning (which was my fave!) I've started having scrambled eggs, whole wheat toast, and some sausage or ham. I find I have a lot more energy and can even make it through the day without a nap!

Have you talked to your doctor about this? although it is common there could be something else going on. Perhaps your hemoglobin is way to low, are you having respiratory problems(losing your breath easily) It's probably nothing but it wouldn't hurt to get it checked out. I hope things get easier for you

I agree, you might as well call the doc to get checked out. Granted, exhaustion seems pretty typical with twin pregnancies, but I figure its always best to rule out other problems. In the beginning of my pregnancy, they found out I have an underactive thyroid, which was contributing to my fatigue. At 26 weeks though, I get exhausted doing many things, and I'm always out of breath. Better safe than sorry though, kwim?

It never hurts to ask your doctor, but I felt the same way starting around 24 weeks. I could barely make it through food shopping without sitting down or at least leaning against the cart for a little while. That was also about when I started keeping a stool in the kitchen so I could sit down while I stirred things on the stove. It was never quite to the point where my doctor suspected anemia (since I didn't get out of breath and completely fatigued just from walking across the room -- not at that stage, anyway), but anything requiring me to stand up for more than 10 minutes was really tough. I remember that after showering, I had to sit on the bed, naked and damp, and rest for awhile before I could manage to pick out clothes and put them on.

I had the same think, and it turned out my iron levels were really low, I started taking some iron pills, and boom! 5 days later I was a new person! Has your doctor checked your levels?

Thank you so much for the reponses. It's incredibly helpful. I've been on antibiotics for bronchitis and was so sick from the antibiotics, that i wasn't consistently taking my pre natals. It may all make sense now!

I'll be talking to my doctor this week.

I felt the same way you do when I was 24 weeks. That week they did my glucose test and found out I was anemic. I got put on iron pills. I still get tired, but not as bad and I don't get out of breath as much. Hope this helps.

I'm not quite as bad as you, but I also get tired doing just routine things like climbing the stairs or blow drying my hair, and I'm only 20 weeks! I have pretty good energy for work, but when I am tired, I am really really tired and have to lay down immediately.
