I am 32 wks pg. with twins and have a 14 mo. old at home. I am hoping there is someone out there in a similiar situation who has some ideas or suggestions as to how I am going to manage. I am excited, nervous, scared and any emotion possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had the opposite. I had my twins first and they were 23 months when my baby was born.

Do you have family help that will be around when you first bring the babies home? How are you going to deliver, because that will be the difference in whether you can pick up your toddler or not. Are you SAHM? Do you have daycare and/or babysitters? We do have moms on here who have been through your situation and hopefully they will weigh in here.

If your 14 month old goes to daycare or an inhome daycare at all, try to keep that schedule going at least for a little bit. The less disruption to his life the better. When Liam came along last year, I kept the twins in daycare for the first month. It gave me time with just the baby and kept them in their routine.

If you can start lining people up to come over and help.....do it. You will need help with basic things, laundry, dishes, etc. Try to prepare ahead of time for your family by having some freezer meals already made. There are some good ones here in the Cooking Forum.

Best of luck! It is a wonderful blessing.

i have a nearly 5 yr old and a nearly 3 yr old so yes i understand it can be super hard! we are lucky to have a nanny come in a few months earlier before the twins to help out and get to know the boys --I take the boys to a sitter 2 days a week so i can run errands/appts without a cranky kid or 2;) they can get long for anyone-do u have anyone to watch your 14 mos old for a few days a week til u delliver? it must be getting harder for u getting so close to the end!

My baby was born 15 months after my twins. It has its challenges, but you will get through it. Find a good babysitter or helper to come over while you are home and just help out with laundry or playing with babies. Buy a good triple stroller!!

Mine was 20 months when my twins were born. It wasn't a piece of cake..the first time I was by myself with all three I was just terrified. But it wasn't so bad. actually having my older dd, still young and in diapers had it's advantages. I didn't have to run her off to the potty like I do now with my twins. Keep her sippy cup and snacks handy...that helped. And don't feel too guilty if you watch a little more age appropriate tv than usual...you do what you need to do to survive. I kept books nearby. Even while I was tandem nursing I could still read to my dd. Keep only non-frustrating toys around for your dd.(or ds...don't know what your toddler is...) Put the ones that require help away for special times when the twins are sleeping. Hopefully your toddler is already on a good nap schedule and sleeping soundly at night...that's critical. If you are having issues with that you need to do some aggressive work on it now.

Thanks to everyone so far for you responses. I am currently still working full time and my son is in a in home daycare 5 days a week. After the twins are born our income will be cut in half as I will then become a SAHM. For a few weeks I plan to have my son go to his daycare a few days a week. He is a good napper most of the time 1-2 naps for 1-2 hours or 1 3-4 hr nap. At night he is also a good sleeper but I am nervous he will wake up when the babies cry. OUr family all live in our town. We have 3 sets of parents, since my parents are divorced plus my grandparents. So hopefully this will help. Any advice on a TRIPLE STOLLER? We can't afford a pergo and the joovy caboose I don't think would be appropriate for my 14 mo old. I don't want to make him sit/stand on the the back. I was looking into the baby trend triple or the foundations trio triple tandem. Any suggestions would be great. Keep the responses coming they are very much appreciated.

My children are LOTS older.. but I my DD was 22 months older than my DS. Working at a day care I can maybe give you a little bit of advice. First of all, I would do as you are doing with your son in daycare. It does help to give you a break from all 3 at once. I had my DD, as busy helping with my DS as I could. She would help bring me diapers, wipes, blankets... what ever I needed. Then she could help me care for him. Make your son feel important and keep him busy helping mom. You know the twins are going to need all the help they can get from their BB! The more he feels a part the easier it will be for you. I would also like to recomend cutting down on his toys for now.... I would have someone go through toys with you while he is at daycare, so there won't be as much mess to be cleaned up. Overstimulation is #1 reason for messes! Having family in town with you is going to be a great help... and don't fret over the little stuff, like dishes and laundry. It will get done in time. What is most important is getting your rest, keeping the children healthy and cared for and if the house has to survive on quick pick-ups for a while, then why not!?!? I am sure mom or someone will be around to help... even if that means doing the dishes! If someone asks what they can do for you... don't be afraid to tell them! ( You may owe a few... but that's down the road! LOL)
