I figured I needed to ask this of you guys who have BTDT!

Any recommendations for expandable play yards? We are looking at these two:

    Superyard

    One Step Ahead

    Thanks!

i have the one from one step ahead. it is big 8 panels it comes with the 2 extra and you can adjust the size if you want. the one thing i found out with play yards is they do move but it isnt bad at all. i have to tighten the top knobs everyday but it holds them in good. it has a gate which is easy to use. i love mine. they can't get hurt on it if they fall into the gate.

i dont know if i can explain it right but inbetween the panels towards the top is a wider space and on the bottom and my DS put his arm through it and it got stuck. i was able to easily remove it thoughit wasnt like it was really stuck but for him it was. he loves to throw his toys out of it and he put his arm out the bottom to try to grab his toy.

besides that i would reccomend this gate. my DD never put her arms through any slots. HTH DH says its the best thing we got for them.

I have the superplayyard...loved it but now they have figured out how to work together to straighten out the sides and push down far enough to climb over...it's a trip. Whichever you choose, try to find one on Craigslist first, should be able to save some $$$

How long til you're thinking of getting it?

We have the Superyard, with one extension -- LOVE it. Used it tons with Nadia, and now using it with the little ones. I have one of those colorful foam mats under it.

They're not happy in it for long periods, but it's invaluable if I'm home alone and need to put Nadia to bed, or just go to the bathroom, etc. -- can't trust Mr. Kevan to not climb on the furniture, even if he's gated into the family room.

We have two Superyards that we linked together...worked great until they really wanted out and figured out how! Now, I break them up (the superyard) and use them as gates around the house.

I have a lil playzone with lights and sounds (but mine doesn't have lights and sounds??).

It was great to begin with, but if you have an older child who will scale the walls of it to reach something inside 100 times a day, it will stretch out the post holes that connect the walls together. Now it is pretty much useless as an enclosure, but we use the parts separately as blockades/baby gates.

Can you PM me a picture and the price you are asking. I would like to get one, although we don't need it quite yet. I live not that far from you.

    Thanks,

    Jen

I have Superyard with an extra panel (2 squares) and it was AWESOME!! WORTH IT'S WEIGHT IN GOLD!!! Loved it and I recommend getting them used to it as early as you can so that you can shower, or workout and shower etc. and they won't complain. My were used to it and it was a lifesaver for me!!!

The superyard is great, except if you have wood/ceramic floors. It is EASY to move around, and once the babies started crawling and pushing, that thing pretty much traveled with them! If it came with sticky's (I ended up getting a rug mat and cut in strips to put under the playyard to hold it in place) to hold it still, or some type of stakes to stake it in the ground outside, it would be THE perfect playyard. The seperate panels work great for gates too once they're to old for the playyard part...
