The boys are coming up on 4 months now, and I feel like I don't have enough to keep them entertained. We got a few basic toys at our showers, but nothing major. When they had their 2 month appt. the sheet of paper we got said something about using rattles in the development section, but they don't seem interested in them at all. Nick has been able to hold onto one for almost 5 min., but doesn't really use it, and Alex seems to have no interest in them at all. They are usually content to just be in their bouncer seats, or the PNP, or on the bed, with me playing with them. Not that I don't love playing with them, b/c their smiles and giggles are the best part of my days, but you know, other things need done. So anyway, I'm looking into buying an exersaucer or something and was just wondering what and when everyone else used them. Which is better when? Something relatively inexpensive, b/c only my husband is working right now. TIA

We never used jumparoos but my kids went into exersaucers when they were able to hold their heads up. We put blankets around them so they would "fit" better.

I started using them both around four months, but only for a tiny bit of time in the beginning. Once they had real good head and neck control (I think around 5-5 1/2 months) I left them in there for longer periods, like 10 minutes each time, twice a day max. I used receiving blankets for support early on. Now my girls loooooooooove their Jumperoo!

On that note, they hold their heads up very well, Nick is still just slightly wobbly, but they don't drop them at all anymore. They still don't sit up on their own yet though, so should I wait a little longer still or does that make any difference at all? Another thought - looking through a few different websites, I'm thinking of maybe just getting one exersaucer, and maybe one floor mat/play gym. Can kinda rotate the babies using them. Is that a good idea, or should I get 2 of each? Again, only DH is working so $ is tight, but we may be able to get MIL to help.

Try them in there and see how they do. If they dont exactly "fit" we put blankets around our kids in the seat. Especially in the front so they sit up. None of my kids were sitting yet when we put them in there for the first time. If they hold there heads up I would think they would do ok. Try for short periods of time at first.

I began putting mine in walkers when they were 4 months of age. The walker is similar to the exercauser but it isn't stationary. It moves around... my guys LOVED the move around. They would follow me around the house.

I didn't buy the Jumperoo until they were about 6 months old. I would have sooner, but they were so thrilled with the walkers I thought I would wait a little while to add anything new.

We have a combination jumparoo/exersaucer. We started the kids in them about a week before they turned 4 months. We have to put a pillow underneath it because their legs aren't long enough. Mayson only likes to be in it a few minutes, but Shelby will stay in it several minutes at a time.
