I thought daily walking on the treadmill on an incline and power walking is okay.

Doc says no way! Just a little stroll is allowed.... for the next 4 weeks and then when I'm 20 weeks, absolutely no exercise and to become more of a couch potato.

He says this will thin my cervix and cause early contractions and that my heart is working enough growing 2 babies and it does not need any extra blood pumping.

    Anyone else told this???

I am healthy and always worked out at the gym...running and weights.....I am 38 years old, 5'8" and pre-preggy weight was 135lbs. I am now 16 weeks preggy and weigh 149lbs.

I just read and responded to your other post about the tightening you are experiencing, and based on that, I would definitely take it easy as much as possible.

Are you kidding me?! I would go crazy. I have been following crossfit for over 2 years. Once I became pregnant, I still follow this. My heart rate gets to 180+ and my Doctor is shocked that I am doing so well. I would have a really hard time following your doctors orders.

Someone gave me some really good advice, while you're exercising, if it hurts....stop. Well I have not stopped, I have slowed down a little, but I am doing very well.

If he did not give you a health reason to stop, I would not.

    Pregnancy is not a disease.

First of all carrying twins is high risk and so is the advanced maternal age, that is why some docs dont want any exercise. I conceived through ivf and after 12 years of trying to have a baby I would not risk anything. I had always walked and regular exercise before pregnancy. Once pregnant I asked my doc if I could continue and also asked my peri. Both said noway. I have no other risks and have had an uneventfull pregnancy so far. I am in my 20th week and doing great. My weight was 140 when I started and now it is 160. I am also 5'7'' So if I were you I would follow your docs orders.

If the dr says to slow down and no working out i would surely listen to the dr twins are high risk as it is you don't want your cervix to shorten or thin out .. I believe that the reason why i have made it to 33w 4 days with no cervix change what so ever is bc I havent been working out just taking it easy ..

I agree with this, if your dr says slow down, I would listen, there are so many variables with twins that to me it's not worth the risk.

I will say, that at 29 wks it's a workout just getting my 2.5 yr old out of the bathtub, and walking to go grocery shopping. It's a HUGE difference between my singleton's and this twin pregnancy!!

My dr. told me I didn't have any limitations on excersicing, just to take it easier then I did before. I worked out until I was 27 weeks and thats only because I got to uncomfortable. I also was induced at 37weeks and 6 days. If the dr. says though take it easy I would listen.

I was told to not get my heart rate over 140 and no squatting, lunges, etc or anything that would but undue pressure on my cervix. She said walking was a good exercise, nothing bouncy. It does seem like keeping my heart rate at 140 or lower is hard to do b/c I love to get a good sweat going, but I just choose to follow her instructions since I am in her care.
