i know that for the jolly jumper type toys (i have the rainforest jumperoo but same difference), they say that the baby should be touching the floor at tip toe level, not flat foot.

is it the same for exercausers and intellitainers or are they supposed to be flat footed so they learn to bear some weight on their legs? i didn't see anything in the instruction manual about this.

    thanks for your thoughts!

I think flat-footed is fine for the exersaucers. Just my opinion.

I think they are fine, I always adjust their little toes/feet so they are flat footed and can get the concept of standing. If they were only an inch longer right?

They will eventually get it over practicing the new skill.

At least that's my hope, we too have the r.f. jumper along with the 3 in 1 exersaucer.

It's nice that they can be entertained by themselves for a little while isn't it?

So is there a general consensus of flat-footed or tip-toed? Most seem to say flat-footed. I have mine on their toes in the Jumperoo because once they start bouncing the feet always touch. And they always seem to be inbetween for the saucer. Hope that is okay. They dont spend but maybe a half hour a day in them. But the manuals for the Jumperoo and the Exersaucer both say tip-toes. Anyone know why?

Being tip toe is much better is they haven't learned to stand on their own. They shouldn't put too much weight for long periods of time on their legs before they are ready. It can cause them to be bow legged. That is what a chiropractor told me. I alway moved them up to a higher level when they were flat footed. My nephew had this happen to him because too much weight was put on his legs before his body was ready for it.

Thanks New Mom!! that is what i was afraid of. I did read in the manual that jumperoo should forsure be tiptoe but i wasn't sure about exercauser. I will move that one up a notch so that they aren't flat footed. One of my boys love to stand when i support him but i'm afraid that if he is in the exercauser like that for too long, he won't be able to withstand the weight and may get bow legged as you say.

Our pedi specifically mentioned that they should be tip toed since there's a possibility that they can fracture their thigh bone when they twist around. I had them flat-footed at first but adjusted the exersaucer now so they are playing tip toed.

I move both the jumperoo and exersaucer up when the girls start to stand flat-footed. I wasn't sure why, but I was just doing what the manual said to do. Now I know why:) Thanks.
