OK im kinda lost..i had my ultrasound today my every 3 week measurements and the boys are averaging 4 pds each but i have alot of excess fluid.the dr said is not good so she is recommending to my ob that i have weekly nst testing done and since im on nifedipine and still crampy that i have the steroids for the babies lungs because im high risk for preterm labor sooo 2 questions what exactly is nst testing and how do they do it and if i get that steroid for thier lungs do they keep u in the hospital and for how long..im so scared..but at least my boys are great weights. but yet if i do go the 37 weeks and they keep putting on weight like this then im going to have 9 pound babies..aghhhh...

I have weekly NST also. It is really easy, they just put these monitors on your belly, like an u/s and listen to the babies heartbeats for a designated amount of time. They hold them on with these stretchy straps and also have one to monitor contractions. It is painless and easy. Sometimes the babies move around a lot and make it difficult to find them, but mine have gone smoothly so far. I haven't had the steroid shots so I am not really sure about that, but I don't think it requires hospitalization. Good luck.

nst are easy. i hadthem done 3x a day while i was in the hospital last week. and the steroid shots..i dunno if you have to be in the hospital for them or not. if its the same as i got its a series of 2 shots, right to the tushy. she acted like it was gonna be really painful but honestly, it didnt hurt much at all lol. i even took both shots in the same cheek. sometimes it feels like im bruised now where i got the shot. its been a week since i got them.

You do not need to remain in the hospital for steroid shots (at least, I didn't). I went to L&D for my shots and was only there for about 15 minutes each time -- two days in a row since there are two shots.
