everything in the mouth - again?

The kids have been totally past the putting-everything-in-the-mouth phase for ages now. But all of a sudden, EVERYTHING is going in Andrew's mouth! He's got his hands in there all the time, and he's putting everything else in too, including paste and a whole garlic clove that he swiped off the counter (oh, if only I'd gotten on camera the look on his face when he crunched down on that! ).

I've asked him if anything hurts in there, and he says no. He went to the dentist a couple months ago, and everything was fine. Any clue what is up with this behavior???

I have no idea, but Roycie is doing it too. He never was one to put stuff in his mouth, but now every time I turn around, something (usually a car or a Thomas engine) is in his mouth.

I gave up counting the last couple of molars that came in my kids mouths... and now I'm wondering if my dd is getting a last and final tooth... b/c like you said she is chewing everything! She won't let me look, and the last molars I recorded were from March... hmm... I don't know what else it would be.

Not a clue on this one. The girls went through a short stage of chewing on things for some reason a few months ago. Maybe it's just a stage?? Is he just curious about how things taste? I couldn't help but laugh at him putting the garlic clove in his mouth...ewww. Have you looked in his mouth with a flashlight to make sure nothing is going on?

Ian does that from time to time and when asked about it he says his throat hurts...

Meara is doing it again too. I have no advice since i can't get her to stop either. My SIL's 6 yo still occasionally does it, so i figure we are in for a long haul with this.

We had that too. It's calmed down again a bit but for a while there, they were back to chewing their crib slats! (they have converted toddler beds) I have no idea what it was about but it sounds like it's not all that unusual.

My DS did this about the time he turned 3, but thankfully it isn't happening as much now.
