Is this normal? They go to the bathroom sometimes 4 - 5 times a day. They both have nasty diaper rashes that won't seem to clear up.

Is it really loose, watery? The diaper rash could be yeast, what are you putting on it?

I would try giving them more of the bananas, rice cereal, and applesauce if they are having diarrhea, or loose stools.

Nope, it's not loose and watery at all....strange, huh? Just a major increase of stools.

our guys have started going more often since we started solids. they're firmer than before, which i attribute to the oatmeal. we started sweet potatoes this week and i think jacob's body was relieved not to have cereal because he had a major diaper blow out this afternoon. so big that he needed a bath.

    ahhh adventures in poopy.

I wouldn´t worry. Mine go around 3 or 4 times a day now due to solids. DS once went 5 times! I´m going through more nappies than ever now! Make sure you use a good nappy cream and that they aren´t sitting in it for too long. My DD doesn´t smell but DS can stink out a room!

Ours started having more BM's with solids too. DD, especially, started to get diaper rash more frequently. We found that letting her air dry after diaper changes, wiping her clean with a warm washcloth or paper towels and using either thick coating of petroleum jelly or triple cream reduced the diaper rash.

I just posted a similair response yesterday to someone else! :)
    To summarize and add too:

    Warm baths
    air dry bum
    allow lots of naked time
slather on a THICK layer of cream EVERY diaper change (while there is a rash). My pedi says to lather it on like you're icing a cake and it doesnt cost you a dime
Use warm washcloths with just plain water - no wipes

Lay off juice, fruit, and all DAIRY (milk, cheese, yogurt) for 1 week.
make sure you are changing often.

lots of poops are completely normal. If they are sitting against the skin though and are even slighly acidic it can leave a rash. Hope the bub gets better soon!
