Ever have one of those days when you feel like a horrible mother??? Yesterday, I was putting Parker in his bouncy seat and I poked him in the eye with my thumb. Amidst the screaming (him, not me) and me holding a cool cloth over his eye, and me apologizing repeatedly, all I kept thinking was "How am I going to tell my husband that I've blinded one of our beautiful boys?" All ended well and I think Parker has forgiven me. Then later, I was putting Desitin Clear on his poor little chapped cheeks and he swatted my hand, causing my finger with Desitin to go in his other eye. Then I read the tube and is says "Do not get into eyes." It didn't seem to really bother him, but his eye watered for several hours. What a day!

Yes yes yes!!!! I think we have all been there. About a week ago I had two head "booms" within half an hour. Lily and Jack are 6 mos. and really wiggling, rolling, army crawling around. We have tile floors and I have a carpet with a twin sized quilt on it that they do most of their tummy time, etc. on. They have begun to move from one end of the carpet to the next and generally end up, at some point, rolling onto the tile. They are also sitting unassisted for up to a minute or two but you have to be their to be sure they don't go toppling. In both instances they each toppled and it turned into a quick roll right onto the tile with their head/side of their face hitting the ground. Needless to say they were already on the ground so they did not hit very hard but they looked at me with these bad mommy faces as they geared up to scream their displeasure. I can imagine it happening once but after I let it happen to Lily, I let the same thing happen to Jack about 15 minutes later.

Welcome to Motherhood! That is just one of the things that will happen, they happen, you do your very best to protect them and that is all that you can do. I wish I could say it gets better, but honestly, it doesn't you just have to "roll with it".

Best of luck to you, and you are a great Mommy!

I think we all feel this way sometimes. We have all tile floors as well and the boys are always trying to run, lose their footing and fall "BAM" onto the floor landing right on their heads. They almost always have a bruise somewhere on their poor little skulls. I have told my husband several times that I think they are going to end up with brain damage. Another thing is that they love shoes for some reason. So yesterday after dinner I had them in just their diapers while I was getting things ready for their bath. I turn around and there is Cameron standing in just a diaper chewing on one of my husband's work boots. I could just hear the banjos playing.

I had one today! I feel awful.... I got up at 6:30 to feed the babies. They'll usually sleep till 8-8:30 after that morning feed. When I went back to bed, I must have turned down the monitor...I didnt' wake up till 9am! Both babies were sceaming their heads off and must have been for a long time. When I got in they were shaking and sobbing uncontrollably... I feel so bad and they're both clinging to me now :cray: Poor babies!

We all have those times. :hug99:

Just wait until they get old enough for broken bones then you can feel really bad and when you have one child in two casts you cannot believe the evil looks you get. I let my mother in law and my aunt take the girls for an overnight trip to the beach. It was winter and both girls had been told not to go near the water. The youngest who always obeys and did everything she was told actually went toward the water but not in it. Her older sister thinking it was enough that she even got near yelled that she was going to tell. Younger daughter never misbehaving got so upset she began running toward the house and fell in the sand. She landed straight on her wrist and snapped both bones in two in two places. She didn't want her nana and aunt to know she had been close to the water so she never cried or complained much. Since she didn't do any complaining her nana and aunt wrapped the arm and stayed overnight returning the next day. When I went to pick her up I asked about her arm. They indicated shehad fell and bruised it. I unwrapped the ace bandage they had used and proclaimed the arm to be broken. She had gone half the day before, all night and most of the next day and her wrist was just hanging. It was so swollen and bruised and she was running a fever. I took her to the ER and of course it was a horrendous break and they prepped her for surgery. Those doctors looked at me like I was the worst mother in the world to have let her go basically two days with an arm in that condition. Needless to say they never believed she wasn't with me when it occured. Story goes on. She goes back to school with a flourescent pink cast on her right arm. She's out on the playground with the rest of her classmates. She can't play on the equipment but she goes to the monkey bars to watch her classmates as the are being timed. One lets go of the bars, tumbles and falls against her, She loses her balance and since her right arm is in a cast she attempts to break her fall with her left. It jams her wrist on the left and she has a fracture that's not completely broken but bent to the point of snapping. Her PE teacher was our next door neighbor and you better believe he hated to call us about the accident. Off to the orthopedic doctor and a blue cast on the left arm. This time I took the accident report from school. I was afraid without proof I would be taken to jail for child abuse. Take a 6 year old out with two broken arms - even if you didn't do it - you get the worse mommy award.

I don't mean to laugh at your pain - but your story was very funny and yes - I think we've all been there! Here's one - I'm almost embarrased - 2 mornings ago was pretty hectic. I usually alway close the bathroom door or atleast the toilet lid when I can't keep a close eye on the girls etc. - anyway - changing one diaper - and one baby very quite SOMEWHERE in the house - it's baby proofed to the max so I'm not too worried - well come to find out, the bathroom door is NOT closed nor is the toilet lid and NO, mom did not flush when she went last (pee only) and there is Carley standing at the toilet putting a wad of wet toilet paper in her mouth. OMG!!! I felt like such a heel!! really gross to think about I know - sorry - and definately a "bad mommy moment" . This is the first time I've confessed this - I'm still embarassed......

kimj the way I look at it you were doing your part in conserving water during this awful drought. Besides they tell us urine is great for jelly fish stings - there's no telling what else it can cure.

    loved it - too cute.

Oh, thank you all, because i had a horrific day and a near meltdown/breakdown. And Tessa just woke screaming so I ran upstairs (and D had woken), grabbed Tessa because the tone of her cry was I NEED you, Mommy, and as I was patting D's tush, Tessa refluxed right down the front of my shirt. Nice little puddle in my bra - practically the only thing in there since they weaned themselves.....sigh.

My bad mommy moment: the other day i was at my wits end with my non-napper, so i decided that i would walk away for ten minutes....i was of course in the bedroom listening to her cry...she kept ALMOST stopping, then working herself up..finally i went in (at the ten minute mark) - and she had managed to get her leg through the ONE spot on the crib that the mesh bumper doesn't cover and her little ankle was all twisted up in it.

    Talk about Bad Mommy.....

Oy -- I think these things happen to all of us.

I was once trying to hold both babies at the same time -- which I'm really not very good at, as I have a bum left wrist -- and I managed to let Karina slip a little while putting Kevan down in the bouncy. The back of her head banged pretty hard into his nose. OMG, I felt like such an a$$ as he screamed bloody murder, and his poor little nose turned red....

Funny thing is that Karina cried even harder -- as if his nose really did damage to her hard head!

Sometimes it is comforting to hear that everyone does these things--even though deep down, we already know it. You just can't help but wish there was a rewind button! The toilet paper story is horrible--but hilarious. Someday you and your children can laugh about that one--if you are brave enough to tell them that one of them ate toilet paper fresh out of the bowl. :D

    Yep,
we were at a children's museum today... first time I ventured out on such an excursion with all 4 by myself (well, we were actually meeting a friend, so it wasn't entirely solo)... anyway, they had a cute little area where babies could crawl, play and explore... I had Ethan and Kellan there, while trying to keep a visual on the other two running around. I let Ethan crawl up into this cute little train... which had three steps up, and a little slide down... I had the thought, "yikes, two exits, can only let one in there at a time". So I did, but... I took my eyes off him for a second (to figure out what kind of odd looking toy Kellan had found), and sure enough, Ethan takes a bad tumble down the stairs. He's got a little red rug burn on his nose and forehead now... but he's okay, thankfully...

Yip I had some of those as well, I had an opp on my hand to relieve the carpal tunnel syndrome and it is still not healed. So i was putting Athena in her bouncy chair but my arm hurted and i did not strap her in immidiatly, and she turned to see the cat and fell out of the chair onto the floor, she was ok though.... and Victoria who crawls away the minute her nappy gets taken off, almost fell off the changing table due to my hand being sore. I felt like such a bad mom. but they are ok.... thank goodness.
