I just had a feeling something wasn't right this weekend & was glad I had my regularly scheduled appt today. I found out I was 1cm dilated, so I was shipped off to L&D to get hooked up to the monitors. I was having some decent contractions (plus a lot of little ones) so ended up getting Terbutaline (that medicine sure makes you feel yucky!). It stopped the big contractions & lessened the little ones, plus my cervix was still 1cm, so I was allowed to go home on Modified bedrest (Level II). My doc wants to see me back on Thursday & said he may lift my restrictions then and even allow me back to work. I just found that odd. Have any of you only been on bedrest for a few days? I'll definitely take it easy the remainder of my pregnancy, but am not sure what I think of going back to work (I'm a nurse who's on my feet constantly for 8 hrs/shift). I still have at LEAST 3 1/2 weeks til the earliest we'd want these boys here, but would ideally like to make it to 36-37 wks. Do you think that's possible if I'm already dilated to 1cm? What a day today has been.....

I spent most of week 20 on modified bedrest due to high blood pressure and suspected pre-eclampsia. When all the blood and 24 hour urine tests came back negative for pre-e, she took me off bedrest, but only let me go back to work part-time and told me to spend at least 2-3 hours a day resting on the couch or in bed. I am an occupational therapist, but work mainly in hand therapy, so I'm not on my feet too terribly much at work. I go back this morning to have my blood pressure checked again, so hopefully it will be low and I can keep working.

    Good luck!

I was dialated to one at 31 weeks, but was already on strict bedrest. I made it to 37 weeks. It's definately possible. Rest as much as possible, laying down, keeping the pressure off of your cervix. :hug99:

At 32 weeks, I spent the weekend in the hospital with the lovely magnesium drip...it was the worst thing I have ever experienced in my life. My contractions stopped, I went home, got rechecked and was ok'ed to workout again!! I worked out pretty hard until I delivered at 38 weeks. So, there is hope not be on bed rest for good!! My babies came out big and came home with me right away. I was so thankful I could go home and that I could keep moving!

    good luck!

Oh, I forgot...I was dilated 3 cm for about 4 weeks until I had the babes.
