Just wanted to share an experience I had with breast feeding. in the hopes that those struggling with supply will realize that even a little breast milk has amazing benefits.

I am an adoptive mom and did a protocol to produce milk. I never expected to make a full supply, so when I didn't I stayed the course. (the most i ever produced was about 30% their daily intake)
when my kids were 7 months old I was nursing them only once in the morning and then pumping once at night. I figured they were only getting about 5% breastmilk, the rest formula.
I got sick.. felt terrible, sneezing, runny nose, coughing., my husband got sick, my kids did not!!! They sneezed maybe twice and never felt bad!

At one point i was carrying both of them, had to sneeze, no free hands and couldn't put them down fast enough.. i sneezed in their faces.. major guilt!
but the little bit of breast milk they were getting protected them.. WOW!
    How amazing is breast milk!

Don't give up just because you can't make 100%.
Do what you can do and be proud of it!!!
Even a little can do miraculous things!

Wow, congratulations on being an adoptive mom and being able to breastfeed, it sounds impressive. I was never able to fully breastfeed my kids either, but I did it for 5 months - toward the end they only had 30% breastmilk and my supply stopped all of a sudden at 5 months. They are 2 and they never got a cold, or a runny nose or a cough, so far so good. They also don't go to daycare so they aren't as exposed to germs like the kids that do go, but I hope breastfeeding has a contribution also.

As a Mama about to head back to work wondering if I should keep up the breastfeeding when I still have to supplement with formula, this is so inspiring!!! Thanks for sharing. I'll definitely keep going!!!
